From where Mrs. Byrne stood, she couldn't quite catch what they were saying, but the basic scene was enough.
Next to her, April whispered,
"Look at that, she's not exactly the friendly type, huh? And her husband? So protective, like no one can say a word against her. I don't even know what happened, but somehow she made someone from another table cry?"
Mrs. Byrne's stare toward Celeste grew sharper, the dislike in her eyes now unmistakable.
Once the party wrapped up, Leonard walked Ethan and Celeste to their car. After Ethan got in, Leonard pulled a card out from his suit and handed it to Celeste.
"Here's my personal card-has my number and address. If you ever need anything, just call. And feel free to drop by anytime."
