Seeing Celeste step in to smooth things over, Edward's face finally softened a bit-probably because he figured he ought to give Sophie some dignity in front of the younger generation. After grumbling a few words, he snapped at Sophie to head home and think things over. Sophie, knowing she'd really messed up this time, didn't dare argue back. With Celeste by her side, she quietly left the company.
Given how big this situation had become, it would've looked awful if Celeste didn't comfort her mother-in-law a bit. The collaboration deal was most likely toast anyway, so she just applied for the rest of the day off and went home with her.
"Mom, don't be upset. Dad lost his temper because he was mad. You know how things get when emotions run high-it's only natural you reacted like that."
