Ava looked like she'd completely zoned out. Celeste had called her name a few times, but all she got back was silence. Ava was speed-walking down the hall, and in the blink of an eye, she'd vanished around the corner.
Sensing something was off, Celeste quickly ran after her.
"Ava!"
Ava was standing in the middle of the empty hallway, looking totally spaced out, eyes unfocused.
"What happened?"
"I thought I saw someone I knew," Ava murmured, still staring blankly at Celeste.
"Someone you know?" Celeste stepped forward, glancing around the corner-it was completely empty. "No one's here... want to check it out anyway?"
"No, it's fine," Ava suddenly stopped her, grabbing her arm. "Must've been my imagination."
"It's no big deal. Let's just check-"
