She walks without taking her gray eyes off mine. My body is tense, my heart pounds fiercely, and I struggle to catch my breath; I feel extremely uneasy, but I can't move from my spot. It's as if the adrenaline from that call with my mother vanished when I stopped here, causing my feet to remain rooted to the ground, unable to move no matter how much I command my brain to do so.
