CHAPTER 27 Cherokee on Mamma’s Side After Priscilla arrived in Spokane, she became overwhelmed with what felt like too much family. Priscilla loathed Harriet’s second husband, Judson, almost at first sight. He was just the sort of man she despised, most particularly for how brazen he was in his self-regard—most often at Harriet’s expense. He often used expressions such as: “What I do for my wife,” and “How, because of me, Harriet’s very existence matters.” Priscilla was disgusted by him.
