A chill slid down my spine. "Hunters too?" Mara asked nervously.
Aldric nodded once. "They'll sense the shift eventually."
Silence followed that. "So what are we supposed to do?" Mara asked after a moment.
"We act normal," Aldric replied immediately. "You go to class tomorrow, eat together, continue your routines. Don't panic and don't give anyone a reason to suspect us."
"And if someone asks questions?" Calder said.
"Then we deny everything."
His voice was firm now. "We say nothing happened."
The wind moved through the courtyard around us, carrying the distant sound of rustling trees. For some reason, the entire academy suddenly felt smaller and more dangerous, like something was already watching us.
We crossed the grounds slowly. Liam stopped first when we reached the entrance to
