SELENE
I was in the middle of telling Mara about something someone had said when I saw Kael moving through the crowd toward us.
He was not dancing, he was just walking, moving through the mass of people with purpose, his eyes were locked on me.
Mara noticed him at the same time I did. She looked at me with a smile that said she had been waiting for this moment. "Well," she said, "I think I see someone I need to talk to. Good luck."
She squeezed my arm and disappeared into the crowd before I could even protest.
Kael reached me and for a moment we just looked at each other, the music was loud around us. People were dancing and shouting and having fun, but in that small space between us, everything else seemed to fade away.
"Hi," he said.
