SELENE The second Bond Trial was held in the arena at the edge of campus, a wide stone space surrounded by high walls. No escape routes or privacy, just open ground where two hundred people could watch every move we made. Kael and I stood at opposite ends of the arena with the trial master explaining the rules. The event was designed to test synchronization under pressure. We would be given a series of obstacles and challenges. We had to work together to overcome them, the catch was that the obstacles got harder and more physical as we went. I could feel Kael's tension from across the arena, he was holding the suppressants together by pure force of will. I could see it in the way his shoulders were locked.
