Elara found me in the greenhouse three hours after the trial ended. I was sitting on the floor with my back against the wall, trying to process everything that had happened.
Elara closed the door behind her quietly. "You won," she said. It was not a compliment.
"Did I?" I looked at her. "Calder just fell apart. The pack Alpha is looking for answers, half the academy thinks Kael is a monster."
She sat down across from me and for the first time since I had known her, she looked genuinely tired. Actually tired, like the mask had finally slipped off and she could not be bothered to put it back on.
"You need to understand what is actually happening here," she said. "This is not about you and Calder. This is not about Kael hiding his strength. This is about power."
