Chapter 3
Love didn’t arrive suddenly...
It grew in quiet moments neither of them noticed at first—shared smiles, lingering conversations, and the comfort of simply being together.
Ama and Daniel began spending more time with each other after that rainy afternoon at the library. What started as casual meetings slowly became something deeper.
They would walk home together in the evenings, talking about everything and nothing at the same time. Sometimes they shared food when money was tight, laughing over how little they had but how much they hoped for.
Daniel spoke about his dreams often.
“One day,” he said, his eyes fixed on the fading sunset, “I will leave this place. I will build something bigger than this life.”
Ama looked at him, studying the determination in his face.
“And what happens to me when you leave?” she asked softly.
Daniel turned to her without hesitation.
“You don’t get left behind,” he said. “You come with me.”
Ama felt something warm spread through her chest.
“You really believe that?” she asked.
“I don’t just believe it,” Daniel replied. “I’m going to make it happen.”
Ama wanted to believe him.
And slowly, she did.
Because when Daniel spoke about the future, he made it sound so real… like something they could reach if they just held on long enough.
But dreams are powerful things.
They can lift you up…
or quietly prepare you for a fall.
