Chapter 7: Cassidy

Trevor POV: He didn’t mark her; that should lessen her pain but it won’t change the fact it will still be excruciating for her. I seethe at my brother, “Tell me, did you c*m in MY mate?” The thought of him having had her makes me want to vomit but I had to compose myself. He is the only blood family I have left. Nate’s face grows pale, “I—no! I knew I couldn’t do that to either of you! I wouldn’t mark her in ANY way I knew would hurt her or you, brother.” “DON’T CALL ME THAT,” My shout rattles the gazebo. An acute whimper escapes Nathan as my alpha tone radiates the space around us. “You will never be alone with her again, am I clear?” Turning to exit the wooden shed we stand in. “I will if she allows it,” Nate stood with his hands behind his back, puffing his chest out, preparing himself for my wrath. What in the f**k did he just say?! He’d really think he’ll be able to be around her after he’ll be the one to break her? Smart move on his part. Moving at lightening speed, I grab Nate by his throat and lift him from the floor. To my surprise, he didn’t fight me. He took it as his face began turning shades of red and purple. Beginning to squirm, he grips my wrist but doesn’t attempt to pry my hold on him. Apart of me burns with rage at his submission, not fighting for Jorden. “You will do no such thing. I am the Alpha here, Jorden will be our Queen. You are to never disrespect either of us, is that clear?” A bit of a stupid move on my part seeing as my brother is unable to speak let alone breathe. In my angry stupor, I started to feel a tingling radiate through my chest. Jorden must be looking for me. Within moments, I smell her cherry and honey scent moving about the wind. “Trev?” My mates voice sounds like music to my ears. It was such quiet whisper but I knew it as her by the way the wind blew her scent about. Dropping Nathan, I dash beside her and circle my arms around her center. “Darling, I need to speak with you.” Nuzzling my nose in her bed head curls to calm my beast. It amazes me still that I’m so smitten with my mate that she can calm Dom in a matter of seconds. Her eyes watch as Nathan regains oxygen, attempting to scrape himself off the gazebo floor with a hand grasping at his throat, rubbing the area I was throttling. The tears well in her hazel eyes threatening to pool over. I can feel her sadness, anger, heartache. It makes Dom whimper with need to comfort him mate. I move my large hand to the side of her head, lighting caressing her ear lobe. Looking up to me with blotchy cheeks and reddened eyes, “Let me, please, my alpha.” She was asking for my permission to speak with the scum before us. I wanted to say f**k no but denying her this would be wrong on my part. She is my equal, I need to trust she can handle things on her own. Placing two soft kisses upon her wet eyes, I release her. “I’ll be right here if you need me, my little wolf,” I promise her. “Nathan…” She begins. —— Jorden’s POV Approaching Nathan’s collapsed body, I watch him stare up at me with sad eyes. “Nathan…” I begin but I choke on a sob. Squatting down to his eye level, I gather myself and start again. “Nathan, I think we both felt a…” I trail off thinking for the proper word. “…distance between us that was indescribable at first. As much as I wish this wasn’t how things were to be, this is how they are. Thank you for not marking me.” I take a good look into his eyes, a myriad of emotions running through them. Ignoring the faint unsettling in my stomach that’s begging me to comfort him, I finish my peace. “All I can say is I forgive you.” I place my palm to his cheek. I can sense the confusion churning in Trevor’s gut through our mate bond, causing me to return to his side. Wrapping my arms around his built torso, I angle my head to look up at him. “If he hadn’t found me, maybe I wouldn’t have found you, Trevor.” Answering his confusion with truth. Giving a small reassuring smile. “As for Nathan, I forgive him because there is no point on dwelling what isn’t meant to be,” turning my gaze back to Nate. “Your mate is walking up shortly. Compose yourself and take a moment with her before meeting us at the pack house. We have things to discuss,” my tone matching theirs when they use their alpha tone. Trevor walk out of the gazebo with our arms wrapped around each other. “I pictured you handing that very differently in my head,” Trevor breaks the silence. He sounds surprised, pleased and disappointed. Laughing at his oddly silly tone, “Your mark is the one I bare and I will not dishonor that. Which also means we won’t disown him or his mate. They are welcome here but there will be ground rules.” As much as I want to be petty and banish them for my own selfish needs, I know the pack is best with Nathan within it. And now that he’s found his mate, he’ll become stronger. The pack will gain from this. Trevor’s grip on my waist tightens, “Look at our Queen. Already taking the role with such a level head, with such grace. What have I done to earn you?” “Oh, hush, you. No need to sweet talk me,” I tease in a light tone, “you’ve already won me over. Trevor laughs genuinely and tugs on me, pulling me closer to him, if that’s even possible. I halt our steps, “Trevor?” I ask timidly. He watches me with concerned eyes, “What is it, my love. Are you okay?” Worry lacing his voice. Nodding, I lead with my question in a rushed way, “Willyouleavemeifyoufindanother?” His hands capture my face, leaning in he presses his lips to mine in a tender kiss. After a few open mouth kisses, with no tongue action, he pulls back and stares into the depth of my hazel-golden pools. “Try again, babygirl, but slower this time.” Inhaling deeply, I keep my eyes locked with his. Placing my hands around his wrists. “Will you leave me if you find another?” I squeak out my question, attempting to swallow my fear and hide it within the depths of my soul. —— Trevor’s POV I see my girl repressing her feelings which causes my heart to ache for her. She can’t hide her feelings from me when they’re this strong. “Jorden Marie,” I give a breathy groan, pain erupting through me for my mate. “I choose you. Not only me, but the Moon Goddess herself blessed me with my other half. If I was to have another, I’d reject her. Do you know why?” My eyes never leaving hers. Jorden shakes her head “no” and tightens her hold on my wrists. I shake my head at her, partly in amusement but also in sadness. How can she not see how perfectly made she is for me? I swear from this moment on to make sure she believes she is all I ever wanted, all I’ve dreamt of. I’ll make her believe, to make her feel loved. “If the Moon Goddess saw fit to give me two mates but drew me to you first, I have to believe there is a reason. That is why I choose you, darling.” Jorden throws her arms around my neck, breathing erratically. I feel her relax when my arms engulf her tightly. I try to push my love for her from my body to hers. After some time, she releases me, snagging my hand in her tiny one. “Thank you for being patient with me. I could not imagine having never met you.” The genuineness in her eyes and words strike my heart in the most loving of ways. “And I promise to make sure you know just how much you mean to me. Every day, my Queen,” I swear to her. She shoots me a toothy grin and trudges along to the pack house.
