I stood up slowly, my legs heavier than they should have been, and faced the sea of trainees gathered in the training field.
Some faces already wore mocking smirks ,I was the girl they counted on for comic relief, the one who always stumbled at the perfect moment to make them laugh. But when I looked at my friends, something steadier stared back.
Jess gave me a firm thumbs-up, her bold smile cutting through my rising nerves like a lifeline. They believe in me,I reminded myself. Now I just have to believe too.
