I got out of the stuffy wardrobe not because I couldn’t bear watching Vampire suffer but because I might lose my breath from being squeezed out. Girly tried to grab me, but I twisted my body and found my release.
“Kun, don’t!” Girly wiggled her way out, but to no avail.
“I will be back soon, I promise,” I said, then ran towards my target.
“You finally revealed yourself. I was afraid that you got lost,” he looked at me.
“Let my friend go. He is too wimpy to defend himself,” I ordered him.
“I cannot do that, my friend. You see, this castle runs on blood and your friend here is the most valuable resource that I have but you and your girlfriend can join him as well. It will be more efficient that way,” he waved his fingers at wardrobe.
Suddenly, the wardrobe opened wide, revealing Girly. It wobbled, then walked towards him.
“Girly get out of there! What the hell are you still sitting there for?” I shouted.
“I-I can’t move. I am trapped in here,” she tried to push herself out.
“What will you do, Kun?” The cloaked man challenged me.
“You guys are such a pain,” I felt my mind split in half.
Vampire still screamed cries of agony. The fabrics glowed livelier now. I covered my ears as the sounds were becoming louder and louder. I closed my eyes, afraid of seeing Girly’s predicament. The cloaked man was laughing wildly.
Then I remembered the old man’s words. I calmed myself and listened to his words again and again until I felt something glow within me. My soul was singing to free myself, telling me to let it rip. Then, a new skill has been unlocked, Spirit Dynamite.
I breathed in the energy filling this room. The screams and laughter seized, but Girly’s predicament did not change. I felt the pain of the old man and injected it into the bomb. I pushed the energy out of my body and it exploded directly towards the menace.
“H-how is this possible? We took your weapons away,” he said in disbelief.
“Be ready because here goes another one,” I pushed out another.
He dodged the attack, but it mangled one of the fabrics. The radiance of the fabrics lessened a little. That is one down, seven more to go.
“Is that the best you could do? It won’t be enough to stop me,” he motioned towards the fabric and they headed for me.
The fabrics detached from the walls but kept Vampire hanging. They hugged me in a snuggle fit. They constricted the more I breathed out. Soon, negligible amounts of air reached my lungs. I had to think of a way to save everyone before it was too late.
“Are you ready to join your friends?” He let out a throaty laugh.
I stopped moving. My body ached as my energy got absorbed by the clutches. Tears flowed down my eyes from the shock. Then Girly joined us up on the ceiling. She had open wounds, and I felt that she had it worse than me.
“Yes, the castle will live! Oh Great Abyssaria, I offer these sacrifices for you,” he raised his hands to the ceiling.
“Hey, weren’t you the one who helped us in the tunnel earlier?” Vampire weakly asked.
“I did help you, didn’t I? You should be thankful that I kept you alive until now.”
“What do you gain by doing this?” Girly groaned.
“It gives me happiness and satisfaction. You wouldn’t understand how it feels, but it feels amazing. I have never felt so alive!” He laughed.
“Have you been snorting c***k? Everyone, even you, will perish if you don’t stop this madness,” I struggled between breaths.
“You are wrong! He will save me.”
“Who will save you?”
“The Great Abyssariam, he promised to save me after giving life to this castle.”
“Yo wild man, you think this Abyssariam guy will save you? Heck, he might just feed you to the sharks.”
“I abide by his words. You should have listened to him say it. He sounded like an angel singing songs of the sky. Ahem, I think we have talked enough. Give yourselves to the castle already.”
He continued draining life from us. My health and mana meter was depleting at a rapid pace. I leaned in closer to Girly and Vampire until I reached their heads. Suddenly, there was a flash of light. A trinity skill has been unlocked, Chain Overload.
I felt the fabrics working in reverse. My lost energy flowed back into my veins. Vampire roared as he regained himself. We ripped apart the fabrics that held us captive and fell gently to the ground. A bluish white glow surrounded our bodies.
“What is the meaning of this?” He raised his voice at us.
“It means that you messed with the wrong bunch. It’s game over for you, you freak,” I threatened him.
“Are you guys ready?” Girly called out to us.
“Let’s do this,” Vampire sharpened his claws.
Glowing thick metal chains from our hands wrapped and squeezed him tight. His violent energy flowed within our bodies until he was bone dry. He scrambled with the chains, but he lost his breath while doing so.
Then, the castle walls formed large cracks, and the ground moved back and forth. Growls from monsters covered the entire kingdom. It was deafening. I suddenly heard Grumpy’s cries echoing throughout the castle.
As we got out of the room, the floors dropped big chunks of marble and granite. The area flashed red then blue then white then red again. Among all the noise was Grumpy’s cry for help. It sounded close from where we stood.
“Grumpy, hold on! We are coming for you,” Girly shouted.
The ceiling squashed some of the fleeing monsters. Huge chunks of debris barricaded the only exit, but the open floor provided us easier access to Grumpy’s location. Vampire clawed away the monsters that spotted us along the way.
“Grumpy, do you hear us? Where are you?” Vampire called out to him.
No response returned. I have a bad feeling about this. We pushed through the debris while Vampire slashed through the fallen woods. More debris covered our path as we pressed on this path. Then we heard Grumpy’s cry.
“Oh no, something must have happened him,” Girly squeezed tightly on Vampire’s arm.
“We must hurry. He can’t be that far,” Vampire replied.
It got dark again, and I felt that we were so close. Suddenly, I felt something climb up my shoulder. It was shivering as it hid behind me. It let out a low growl behind my ears and paced around my back as if it was a baby looking for milk. Then heavy footsteps followed.
“It’s okay man, we got you,” I brushed his fur.
“Let’s get out of here,” Vampire slapped my shoulder.
“Where are you going, children?” An elderly female voice asked.
“We are just heading out, want to come with us?” I offered as we backed away slowly.
“Who said anything about leaving? It is just getting started,” a low male voice said.
“Come join us for some tea. It wouldn’t be a party without it,” she added.
“I had enough tea for today,” I replied.
“I am afraid I have to decline this time,” Girly ran ahead, but she suddenly stopped.
“We insist,” the male voice said.
Vampire slashed him but he didn’t flinch. A mighty force pushed him back. I don’t have any more mana to reignite my skill. I felt something hard kick me in the face. It felt like being hit by a ten wheeler truck. Grumpy let out a low growl.
“We wish not to harm you, but to invite you to our tea party,” the old lady approached us.
“We will not take no for an answer,” the old man huffed.
“Sorry, but I don’t like tea parties,” I declined.
“If you would be so kind, we should be on our way,” Vampire grunted like he was pushing something heavy.
“That’s too bad, but I cannot let you through,” the old man laughed.
“Then you leave us no choice,” I sighed.
I could not see anything. All I could hear were weapons clashing and Grumpy’s cry. Suddenly, I felt something creep up my sleeves. It wrapped around my arms, then pulled me like a rag doll.
“Where do you think you are going, little one?” The old lady laughed.
“Let me go, you hag. How dare you poison us?” I spat at her.
“I did not poison you. You looked like you needed to relax, so I gave you some tea.”
“Lady, you are crazy. Let me go—“
“Or else, what?”
“Or else, I will do this,” I kicked her.
The hands that grabbed me loosened a little bit.
“Kun, Vampire, where are you?” Girly called out.
“Hey Girly, over here! Get your butt here… Now!” I commanded her.
“Okay.”
I threw bombs at the old lady. She let out a high-pitched scream while her nails dug deep to my bone. It was definitely worse than being kicked by a solid object. When I was free of the old lady’s clutches, I pulled Girly to my side.
“Where is Vampire?” I asked.
“I’m over here. We must beat them before they get to us,” he approached us.
“Is Grumpy with you?” Girly asked.
“Yeah but how do we get out of here?” I asked.
Suddenly, Grumpy climbed off my back. He pulled down my tail as he dug into the floor. I pulled Girly and Vampire with me.
“Oh no, you don’t,” the old man rushed towards us.
“Get a good grip on them, Gurthe!” the old lady ordered.
As we drilled underground, we felt something pulling us back. The powerful guy got Vampire’s leg. Vampire clawed at him, but the grip was too strong. I felt my body stretch from the pull on both sides like a taffy candy. The nerves in my back screamed in pain.
“Go on without me, I will see you soon,” Vampire loosened his grip.
“You can’t do that, Vampire. We need you,” Girly grabbed his hand.
“I must do it or else we will all die.”
“Get back here, you stupid Vampire. Grumpy, let’s do a Back Drill,” I ordered him.
Our course reverted until it reached the man’s firm grip. It got sliced in the process, but another hand replaced it. Vampire kicked the walls, which gave us a slight boost. Grumpy roared while drilling away from the suspicious couple.
“Children, you be good now and come with us. The party will be fun,” the old woman’s voice echoed behind us.
“Don’t make this harder than it is. We promise to treat you well if you come with us,” I saw a bloody hand reach out towards us.
“Kiss my butt, you old farts!” I taunted.
It felt like swimming, but with dirt and grime. The screams and cries from the surface became distant the further we drilled. I closed my eyes and breathed through my mouth. The ground tasted like copper and rusty metal. I choked as more chunks forced themselves into my mouth.
At last, we resurfaced to the outside of the kingdom’s walls. I brushed the dirt off my body and spat out the taste of desecrated soil. We watched as the castle crumbled and fell to the ground. Castle guards ran for their lives. Huge chunks of debris fell towards us.
We ran away from the walls until we reached two familiar figures standing before us. I was so glad to finally see them. Keith waved at us with Girly by her side. Her eyes looked like she saw a ghost or something.
“Keith… Girly! I’m so glad you two are safe,” I waved at them.
“Vampire… Kun… Girly? Wait, why are there two of you?” Keith looked confused.
“Wait… What? Which one of you is the real deal?” Vampire asked.
