CHAPTER FIVE- FINALLY FACE TO FACE

711 Words
Kyla's heavy breathing filled the room. She was blindfolded and her hands were tied to her back. She knew she had been kidnapped under the pretext of being arrested. Hours passed away, she couldn't catch any sound around her. It was so silent. She was blind and deaf at the same time. She remained still, so she could catch the slightest sound. Minutes later, she heard footsteps coming from behind. They were slow, calculated and confident. The sound the shoes made, told her they belonged to a man. The feets came to a halt. He was standing right behind her. "Why did you steal from me," came his chilly voice which sent shivers down Kyla's spine. She froze on her seat. At least it belonged to her at the moment. She couldn't say a word. She kept mum. "Answer me!" He growled angrily as he hit the back of her chair. Kyla jerked in fright, but still wouldn't say a word. Frustrated, he came in front of her and took off her blindfold. The moment her icy blue eyes met his, he froze. The eyes were familiar. Of course, millions of people had blue eyes, but these were different. There was a feeling attached to it. Jeremy took his eyes away, tossed the blindfold aside, turned to her again, and bent a bit, bringing his face close to hers as he held both hands of her chair. " I asked a question little missus", he said calmly with a hint of cruelty in his voice. Kyla looked directly into his green eyes. She recognised him. He was the one in the huge frame, back at the office she robbed. " Hey Mr grumpy, I'm not little. I'm over 20." Jeremy chuckled mockingly as he withdrew. "I see." "And I didn't steal from you," Kyla continued. " I borrowed from you." Jeremy looked astonished. What a drama queen! "And besides," she went on. "You've got lots of cash in there. I just took little from it." Jeremy faced her angrily. " What gave you the right to steal from me! How on earth did you break into my vault!" Kyla was taken aback by the sound of his voice. She trembled a bit. "I won't tell you nothing. You can kill me if you want. I have nothing to live for after all. So just go ahead and end my life." Jeremy scoffed and wiped the corner of his lips. "What makes you feel I'll give you an easy death?" Kyla stared at him blankly. " You'll send me to jail?". Jeremy chuckled. He got behind her and untied her hands and grabbed her off the chair. Holding her left wrist tightly he took her out of the ware house. Kyla closed her eyes at first before they slowly adjusted to the sun light. He took her to his car, dumped her on the front seat and slammed the car door before walking over to the driver's seat and he got in. "Where are we going?" She asked calmly, but he ignored her. After a 20-mins drive, they arrived at a law firm. Kyla saw herself getting out of the car and walking into the law firm. Jeremy was saying something to the advocate. The advocate brought out a document, he signed on it and asked her to do the same. Kyla tossed the pen aside. "I rather die than marry you!" Jeremy laughed in mockery, then he stopped and turned to face her. "It is false that you have nothing else to live for," he looked away and continued. "I asked my friends to take your grandma to a safe house." Kyla's eyes widened in horror as she looked at him. Her grandmother was the only one she had left. She was the mother of her biological father, but she didn't let Kyla live with her because she claimed it was best if Kyla had foster parents. Kyla's heart sank when Jeremy showed her the video of her granny being ministered to by strange men. He turned off the phone and shoved it back into his pocket. "Your grandma would remain safe, as long as you agree to become Mrs Jones." Kyla dropped on her knees and began to sob heavily.
