The Girl In-Between

Chapter 2

The next day came around fast.

From my side i turn to lay on my back letting my eyes adjust to the bright light streaming through the curtains. I was tossing and turning a little through the night. I guess it's because of being in another new home again. It always happen so i put it down to that.

It was about 7.30am and i dragged myself out of bed and headed into the shower room and took a nice hot shower. After i grabbed the towel from the side and wrapped it around me then grab another for my brown golden locks. 

Did my makeup and dried my hair. Once i was done i grabbed some jeans and a tank top out my drawers and not forgetting under wear of course.

Before even leaving my room i could smell freshly made pancakes coming up the stairs. They smelt so good I just had to grab a plate before my dad ate the lot and we all know how much dad loves mums cooking or just the pancakes alone.

"Mmm mum these smell super yum" I smiled taking two onto a plate.

"Good can't let you both go hungry now can I"  She smirked before leaving the room.

There wasn't much happening today but i knew my parents will be out looking for a job and enrolling me into school for Monday coming around. I was and wasn't looking forward to it coming around. I'd meet so many new friends but the feeling of leaving them all behind in a few months really got me down and i just can't handle it no more.

I decided it was time to go exploring. Since our new house had loads of trees around it, it was perfect to go for a run and stretch out my wolf legs. She hasn't had a chance yet. Since last night we had loads of un-packing to do and then by the time i was done putting things away i was so out of it i went to bed.

I took a spare bag with me and pulled the sliding doors open  stepping out side. I walked so far into the woods before stripping down put my clothes inside the bag and shifted. It felt so good when i landed on all four paws. Shaking out my dark brown fur i picked up the bag in my wolf mouth hiding before springing of my back paws and running feeling the wind over my fur tickling my body.

I ran and ran taking in all new kinds of scents. Flowers, grass and tree barks, not like i haven't smelt them before but this was a different country and to be honest we had been traveling for a while. The sounds of water wasn't to far off either and the faster i ran the closer the water sounds got . I soon found myself standing looking over a lake. I could see white swans with two little ones by their side and few other ducks. 

Of to the side there was a little paddling boat. As i got closer to it i could see there was a big hole broken in the bottom so there was no way of using it. 'Terrific' I thought.

I wasn't paying too much attention to my surrounding and with one quick flash i was knocked onto my side. I stood up and turned around in a flash dropping my bag of clothes. Noticing this other wolf, it's a good thing i knew who it was right away. I ran playful at him trying to catch him with a happy slap but he kept dodging me pretty well.

He then went behind a tree and shifted back so i followed suit grabbing my bag as i went. 

I shifted back and put on my clothes "Austin" I scream running out from behind the tree.

I didn't see where he was hiding but before i knew it i was engulfed into a bear hug and spanned around with my feet dangling high.

"Oh i've missed you so much Kacey"  His arms squeeze me super tight.

"Does mum know you were popping over today?" I asked unsure he was coming to see us.

"No, i was going to surprise you all tonight and i was bring Maya with me for you all to meet. Also my Alpha would like to meet you all and welcome you to the land" He said standing back from me with his eyes focus on my expression.

I had no idea what to think. The alpha wants to meet us. A million things ran through my head. The only other alpha we knew of was the one we left behind all those years ago, that deadbeat no good alpha he was.

My legs turned to jelly as i stared at my brother, My eyes were wide and my mouth was gap like a fish.

"Don't worry he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be I'm now his second in command of the pack so there is no need to worry"  He seemed like he really like being there and spoke highly of the alpha. I'm curious to know what he's really like myself but scared at the same time.

I smiled and gave him another hug. I didn't know what to say, but the thought of meeting the alpha tonight at dinner scared me a little. 'Wow' I thought i should fill in my parents. Mum may get something nice for dinner.

'Mum, Mum' I yelled through mind link. 

'Yes dear' She sounded like she was having a good time with dad or she actually was having luck finding a job.

'I've just bumped into Austin and he's coming for dinner tonight....With His mate and...th..the...Alpha' I uttered the last part.

'He is, I mean they are. I better pick something nice up then see you later dear'  Then she blocked me out. My mum blocked me out, I can't believe it well i can she must be uber busy with dad.

We heard many different stories about this pack. They were the best fighters in these parts and had the most warriors known to man or should i say wolf. It was the pack almost everyone feared the most. Some rogues still attempt to try and come onto the land, try to kill them but they never got that far. I even heard the alpha was a bit of a player so i'd better keep my distance from him.

"Kacey are you ok?" My brother asked i forgot he was still here.

"Ye-eah, i was just paging mum in about the alpha coming to dinner tonight so she's grabbing something nice for dinner" I ramble on.

"Did you mention that Maya is coming along also so they can meet her?" He question.

Oh crap did i mention, i can't remember. I'm sure i did but my mind was more focus on the Alpha coming to our house. He could kick us of his land, He could kill us all. Even though we're Austin's family. There is never any telling what an Alpha and his pack could do. I was a little all over the place in my head just now i shake the thought away and answered my brother.

So i just said "Yeah, yeah i said and mum is excited" i lied. I knew my mum was probably just as scared as me or nervous i had no idea how i feel about meeting the Alpha.

We wondered around the lake a little longer before making our separate ways home so we both could get ready for dinner. I just had to remember my way back not that it was easy. My first time finding this place and I'm already lost.

"Uh Kacey" I heard my brother creeping up behind me giving me a fright.

"Yeah" Looking confused i swear he had left.

"Do you know how to get home?" 

'Good question...No we don't' My wolf spoke. She likes to pick when to talk or not.

"No i can't remember which way i came from" I frowned moving a foot in the mud side to side.

"Come on i'll get you so far and you'll easily find the rest of the way" He smiled grabbing my hand and dragging me half running.

I started to move my own feet along with him and finally he let go of me once i kept pace. Five minutes later i could see the roof of the house and knew how to get back from where we were. He hugged me before running off to wherever he now lived i watch him running off as his body disappeared into the trees.

I ran the last few metres to the house through the sliding down and ran up to my room to get ready for dinner. It should be exciting to see what this alpha looks like and Mya. I can't forget her too.
