THE NIGHT WE BECAME ONE

1513 Words
It had been weeks since everything had changed. Weeks since they discovered I was a Bloodline Seer. Weeks since Patrick vanished with no body to confirm he was dead. Weeks since the Red Moon Alpha slipped back through whatever portal he came from, leaving only threats heavy enough to choke a room. And weeks of pretending everything was normal. Lucian and I had told everyone at work that we were away on a business trip, a convenient lie for disappearing for nearly nine days. Nobody questioned it, but that didn’t make it feel less like we were patching bullet holes with tape. The pack was tense. The elders were restless. Rumours were spreading fast. And Derek… Derek was gone. He wasn’t a member of Lucian’s pack, and Lucian made that painfully clear. I argued again and again that Derek belonged here just as much as any of us. That he had fought beside us. That he had saved Eli’s life. That loyalty should matter more than birth. Lucian disagreed. And Derek left without a proper goodbye. Part of me still replayed that argument in my head. The part that hated losing people. Right now, though, I was lying on Lucian’s bed, curled against him as the moonlight light filtered through the window. The room was quiet, the peaceful kind of quiet that didn’t come often anymore. His arm rested around my waist, warm and grounding I hadn’t expected us to get this close so fast. Honestly, neither had he. The mate bond had settled between us like a heartbeat we shared, steady and undeniable, but it didn’t magically solve our problems. If anything, it made the world feel sharper. Bigger. More dangerous. Lucian brushed a thumb over my arm absentmindedly, like he wasn’t even thinking about it, just… feeling for me. Making sure I was still there. “You’re quiet,” he murmured. “I’m thinking,” I said. “That’s what worries me.” I rolled my eyes, but the fondness in his voice softened the edges of everything weighing on me. The missing body. The silent threat. The pack watching us like we were half miracle, half warning. And Derek. I let my fingers trace the edge of the blanket, my mind drifting back to the moonlight tearing through the ceiling, the raw force that had swallowed the entire house. That surge had been wild, terrifying, alive. And completely absent ever since. “I don’t know what’s wrong,” I admitted, “It’s been weeks. I haven’t felt anything. No visions. No pulse of energy. Nothing.” “I know I’m a Bloodline Seer,” I continued, “but I don’t even know what that means beyond the chaos we survived. I don’t know how to… access anything. Or awaken anything. Or even understand what I’m supposed to do.” The words felt heavy; admitting them felt heavier. “The surge that night—” I swallowed, remembering how it had felt like another heartbeat inside me, ancient and overwhelming. “It felt huge. Like something too big for my body. And now it’s gone. Completely gone." Lucian’s brow furrowed. “Maybe that’s a good thing. Your body might be stabilizing after the bond and the surge.” “Or maybe I’m supposed to be doing something I’m not doing.” My voice cracked with frustration. “Sabine keeps mentioning floodlines like I’m supposed to know what that even is. And every book I’ve touched talks in riddles. ‘The Seer awakens through alignment.’ ‘The Seer rises when the moon calls.’ What does that even mean? Why can’t they just say how?” I huffed and sat up a little. “I need to awaken the floodlines,” I said firmly. “They keep calling it ‘channelling the energy,’ or ‘letting the lunar current through,’ but none of that explains anything. I need steps. Instructions. Something.” Lucian studied me quietly and thoughtful. Not judging. I rubbed my forehead. “If the Moon Goddess chose me, which, honestly, still sounds insan. I don’t understand why she didn’t leave me a manual. Or a sign. Or something. I’m sitting here with this giant title on my head and no idea how to even feel the energy again.” Lucian shifted, sitting up behind me. His voice lowered. “Tess… you almost died because your power surged without control. Maybe the absence of that surge is the Moon Goddess protecting you until you’re ready.” “Or it’s a warning that I’m not ready at all,” I muttered. “No.” His tone was firm but gentle. “You survived it. You anchored it. That matters.” I sighed, frustration simmering beneath my skin. “Well, I need to figure out how to awaken the floodlines without blowing up another house. It can’t be that complicated… right?” Lucian didn’t answer immediately. And that silence was an answer on its own. After minutes of silence, he finally answered. "Let's forget about that now, shall we?" He pulled me closer to him till I was seated on his laps and only a few inches away from him. I could his broad, hard chest on me. "I want you, Tessa." "The Lucian Vale? Putting his own needs first? No, no, you don't get to be naughty today. " I said, letting out a giggle. Lucian was offering a solution wrapped in desire, and I think I like it. "No more thinking," I said, my voice barely a breath. "Just doing." I lifted my hands to his chest, pushing the remnants of his shirt away from his skin. Lucian let out a low, guttural sound, the sound of a wolf releasing years of control. He didn't rush. His hands moved to the small of my back, pulling me into a kiss that was slow, deep, and utterly possessive. The connection between us tightened, vibrating with an almost painful intensity. I wasn't just kissing Lucian; I was tasting the sudden, limitless power of my mate. He pulled back slightly, his eyes molten gold, breathing hard. He didn't look defeated; he looked ready. Ready to ruin me. "Forget the Moon Goddess. Forget the prophecy. Right now, there is only the bond. Only us." He slowly removed the remaining fabric between us, his fingers tracing lines along my skin. When his lips pressed to the exact spot where his mark was, the simple touch felt like a seal, sacred and absolute. I stopped searching for the ancient magic and simply surrendered to the feeling of the bond. He was the controlled intensity of a powerful wolf, finally free to be gentle. I felt the last of my tension melt away, replaced by the rising tide of desire and the profound, stabilizing feeling of being utterly claimed. As our bodies pressed together, the physical sensation was overwhelming, but underneath it, something else stirred. The smallest whisper of lunar energy. It was like this intimacy was awakening something. It ran along my spine. The deepest connection was the true key. The energy wasn't gone; it was waiting to be invited through the purest channel. Lucian moved, his focus entirely on my pleasure, on building the heat and strength between us. Every touch, every kiss, every movement was an affirmation of the bond, a declaration of ownership that resonated deep in my soul. He kissed every part of me like he owned me. He kissed my feet as his hands made way to my thighs. He kissed them too as he made way to my core. He used his fingers to stroke my c**t as a series of moans escaped my mouth. He digged his finger in deeper into my whole, preparing me for something bigger. I could already feel the moisture releasing all over his hands. His next move shocked me. He put the finger he had used in his mouth, making one sexy sound that made me lose my mind I went straight for his junk, stroking it with my slimy hand, giving him a taste of his medicine. "I want him, Lucian." I whispered, my breath hot against his ears as I massaged my breasts with my other hand. "I've been holding back for a while, Tessa.....but tonight I'm going to destroy you in a way you can't even imagine." "Yes, Daddy," I replied, giving a naughty laugh. All I could think about now was how badly I wanted him, how badly I wanted him inside my, how badly my core ached for him. I looked into the soft, loving contentment in his eyes, knowing that for this moment, nothing else in the world mattered. He slid it in gently, his eyes not leaving mine. It felt like we were one. With every thrust a declaration of unity. He f**cked the hell out of me, and I couldn't help but ask for more. Tonight, he took ownership of my body and my future, leaving no doubt that I belonged only to him.
