Ted's Pov "Ted, you are a sexy young beast. Doing great is an understatement," I thought to myself. I kept on straightening my black silky coat, dusting off any possible dirt on it. "The ladies will keep coming," I thought smugly. Ted Junior will be leading the national anthem tonight. The huge lights above me shone brightly, illuminating the stage I was on. A lady sat opposite me in an armchair and she put on a smile that could rip her face apart. The audience before us sat on chairs, placed on ascending stairs. Cameras were kept at strategic locations of the stage, all having their focus on the lady and I. She swerved her head towards a camera man, causing her long black hair to sway in my direction. She gave him a curt nod and the cameras started rolling. 3, 2, 1... The funky theme music of the talk-show sounded and the lit screens behind me slid open. Eyes on the prize Ted. "Happy new year and goodevening citizens of Hammorog. It's your favourite talkshow host, Cindy Baker, here with more gists to itch your ears. Now our next guest is no other. He has been awarded the keys to the city for his distinguished, scientific discovery of the cure of the berseker disease. A disease that made the city of Hammorog closed off for 11 years." She glanced at me briefly and gestured her hand in my direction. "When all hope was lost, this man emerged and held a beacon of light. With all the interviews and press conferences, we are pleased that he has accepted our invitation. Without further delay, we proudly welcome the leading man of Hammorog city- Ted Hamilton!" The audience rose up from their seats and gave me the applause of a lifetime. Their voices thundered with praises and I could even hear some women, crying for me to bear their children. Yuck, fatherhood. Cameras focused on my every movement and I waved and smiled just as I should. Cindy was holding a card that guided her for her questions while looking at me warmly. I followed the curves of her body that was even more accentuated by the dark-blue gown she was wearing. Damn, she was even hotter in person. The lights above me gave off a radiating heat, which opposed the Antarctic weather that the AC of the studio was giving. "It's such a pleasure to have you here Mister Hamilton," Cindy welcomed and extended her hand. I grasped her hand firmly and gave it a squeeze. "Pleasure is all mine," I replied causing her cheeks to have a pinkish glow. I made myself comfortable and braced my thoughts for her questions. "So how does it feel to be the man leading the life-saving vision of the Green Leaf Corporation?" Ah, a different way of constructing a question, but just the same common query that every presscon and talk-shows kept on giving me. I faked my most famous, humbled chuckle and smiled. "It has been an honor Cindy. I've seen what this epidemic has done to the city and with the success that my team has given my company, I think I have found God's purpose for me." The audience before us clapped loudly and Cindy placed her hand to her well-endowed breast to show that she was touched by my answer. This was the kind of quality air that I should breathe. I was a f*****g hero. "Mister Hamilton, you are such a refined man with the qualities that each woman would die for. You had various awards for genetic engineering, scientific and medicinal researches that contributed to the pharmaceutical industry. You also graduated last year with a masters and phd in medicine. You were even featured in the Bachelor Magazine every month since last year. How do you take all these successes?" Cindy asked me. Her eyes were sparkling with awe. I took a deep breath and looked at the audience before me. I don't know how they did it, but f**k yeah, I was a doctor. "Overwhelming is the word. It still hasn't sunk into me and to have people praise you everywhere seems like a dream." It was a dream that I didn't know would come true. I never knew I was going to move out of the crappy apartment I was leaving in. I guess being an actor really paid off. Now I got to act as a dummy which was a really interesting job. At least they bought me a nice condo. "Well you can rest assure Mister Hamilton that you are not dreaming. You have saved countless of lives because of your discovery and people will never forget that you have saved the future generation from experiencing such dreadful times," She uttered before another round of applause was given by the audience. Heck yeah I saved your asses. "So Mister Hamilton, how did you know that there was a virus spreading and this virus was actually the cause of the drastic increase in crime rate?" I cleared my throat and switched my leg that was on top of the other because it was gradually getting numb. "It was through the forensics reports of the police. When people in the city began to die mysteriously, the forensics department noticed that there was a particular virus found in their spinal fluid. So, we took that fluid and tried to find any possible means to kill the virus in it. Through God's guidance, we managed to create a cure." "And thank goodness you found it. This city would have been wiped off the map if it weren't for you. The death toll among loose criminals were deemed God's punishment but it turns out- it was actually some sort of disease that criminals were experiencing and could likely be the cause of their impulse to commit crimes." I nodded and pushed my glasses up. "Correct, many would still comment that the virus affecting personality and behavior was unlikely, however; they cannot deny that the Holitus serum had made the affected population's personalities and behaviors more stable. We have recorded the drug's effects and let me tell you that these poor men that had been acting like rabid animals returned confused, regretful, and cooperative." I feel so smart. "Interesting Mister Hamilton. But has your team finally discovered how the disease is contracted?" I shook my head and narrowed my gaze. "Unfortunately, we haven't yet but our team discovered something very interesting that could finally solve it." The audience and the staff who were visible were caught with interest and curiosity. "What is it? Pray tell Sir," Cindy encouraged. Not in the script but they won't mind if I did an ad lib. I overheard the secretary's conversation with that bastard. Though their boss did all these good works I've been praised for, I couldn't help but wonder why he didn't want to take the credit for it. Their company was hiding something and it was only a matter of time before I'll find out. "According to the forensic reports the bodies they studied had injection marks." "They are drug users?" Cindy asked, intrigued. The entire studio was quiet and was listening intently. I smirked. "Here's the interesting part-none of them are " Louds murmurs erupted before they were shushed by Cindy's next question. "So the virus could have been man-made?" I nodded. "There is a high possibility that it is." And I didn't give a flying f**k. A few more questions were asked from me before the director of the talk-show signaled Cindy that they were out of time. "So what's next for Ted Hamilton?" I ran my hands through my flaky hair. "I have many plans but most of them are to develop more cures for chronic diseases, that throughout history had made the human race lose prominent and bright people to an early death. I want to give hope to those who have lost it, to better lives, to save lives, and to have people live knowing that there will always be a cure." The crowd cheered and I think Cindy fell in love with me. I am awesome. The interview ended and I exchanged goodbyes with the host. The audience was satisfied, my pockets will be satisfied, and the lucky woman tonight will be more than satisfied. I entered my dressing room and was welcome by the strong whiff of an aromatic perfume. The room wasn't that large but it was well furnished. Bright bulbs hung over the room, curuscating its yellow themed walls. A director's chair faced a rectangular mirror that had bulbs engrave in it's frames. At the corner of the room, a pink lounge couch aligned itself with two joining walls. I curled my lips when I noticed an unsightly pain in the ass that turned my mood into spoilt milk. My bodyguard was leaning against the wall, his arms over his broad chest. He was in his usual slick black suit and his light skin glimmered under the sultry lights, making him look gorgeous. Fucking turd. I slammed the door behind me shut and walk deeper into the room. The man was frowning like I did something to piss him off again. "Ian, why the look?" I asked, in a tone that told him that I didn't give a s**t. I tried to pass by him but was stopped by his firm grip on my shoulder. He pushed me back gently so he could see my face. "You shouldn't have told them about the injection marks. That wasn't on the script. My boss will be angry if he heard you didn't follow the script he gave you." "It will eventually be on the script." "My boss will be angry." I rolled my eyes. "Then don't tell him." The frown on his face tightened even more. "Don't forget that you're paid handsomely for this. I'm sure you wouldn't want to lose your job." Annoying s**t! Why was he so full of himself when he was just given a job to follow me everywhere? Even though I wasn't his real boss, I expected him to show me some respect. At least since I was acting as the boss, he should also give me the same respect he gives his employer. "You're just a bodyguard and the boss' b***h at that. Get off my ass!" I hissed at him and slapped his hand away. If I was the real CEO of the company, I would have fired this i***t a long time ago. I've never seen someone so devoted to their job like him. The only place that he hadn't followed me yet was the bathroom! Well thank God I can s**t freely. "Don't do it next time," he firmly warned. Yeah right, like he could do anything. "The work of a CEO is stressful as f**k. No wonder your boss is paying me to act as him. He obviously doesn't like work," I sighed and threw myself on the lounge couch. His stormy globes glared at me, causing the hairs on my body to stand. "Your job is just to act. The boss has done way more than you. Make his image good and you and I won't have a problem." Yeah, he really was the boss' b***h. "Yeah yeah sure, calm your withering t**s. What's this boss of yours like anyway?" Never seen the man. The secretary was the one who interviewed me and after that, he gave me this bitching cane Corso puppy. My bodyguard sauntered to where I was lying down and I peeked at him from under my arm. "Someone you wouldn't want to piss off."
