Chapter 13: Colin King

2395 Words
Sammy POV I’m thinking about the other night, with that guy… Puppet. The fact that I’m hiding who I really am, that I’ll have to end up arresting him, all of it… it just makes me sick. It didn’t used to bother me before, you know, going undercover and taking out the bad apples. This time though, something feels different. I feel guilty, like that time I gave away the location of the runaway prisoner in the forest. But, if all goes according to plan, I’ll get what I finally deserve. I’ll get killed when the shooting starts. I won’t have to live with this pain anymore. I’ll be free. I grip the railing of the vessel, as scorching hot as it is, the burn seems to relieve the heartache creeping up in my chest. Looking out into the ocean, the shimmering quiet waves are so beautiful. Even with the strong smell of salt water and the piercing sounds of seagulls, I feel a sense of comfort. *10 years ago flashback* (All interaction is in Chinese but translated to English for ease of reading) “You are to take this medicine to our friend,” says the man. He’s second in command of a local Chinese mafia in Shanghai. I reach for the aluminum case filled with vials of a custom anti-toxin, but the man hesitates to hand it over. “Don’t forget to return with cash in hand. You have 24 hours,” he snarls spitting at my feet. “I got it,” I snap back pulling the case out of his hands. The boss of the local gang in Beijing is expecting this shipment in 12 hours, but he’s not going to get it. Instead, this baby is coming with me to the States. Now, how to lose those trackers? I look through my rear view and see several men piling into blacked out SUVs several feet from my car. A smile forms on my lips at the challenge. I start my route North toward Beijing, but as I near the runway where my jet is, I veer off the main highway. The SUVs catch on and start to chase me with urgency through the local streets. They’ve probably started notifying the entire gang that I’ve changed course and that I’m likely a traitor. My heart starts thumping fast and hard, as I bump along the off road short cuts to the abandoned facility. I look through my rear view, but the SUVs are no longer tailing me. It seems I’ve lost them, as I curve into a hidden driveway of the building. That’s when I hear a whipping sound go past my head. I lift my arm in an attempt to block the shards from landing on my face as my windshield breaks. “f**k!” I yell as my car comes to a screeching halt in front of the jet. I jump out of my car, ducking behind my door as hundreds of bullets start to pummel the other side of my car. I hear tires screeching on the concrete within feet of me. “Stop f*****g shooting!” someone yells. The shooting stops. A dead silence. I peek up over my door and see the SUVs and a group of asian men with AR-15s pointed in my direction. Shit! The guy in-front is the mob boss’s 20 year old son, Jason Tan, who I’ve had the displeasure of having to seduce for the last few months. I had never let him touch me, but I had teased the s**t out of him to get him to comply when I needed info. Lately, he’s been growing impatient with my playing hard to get. His advances were becoming more aggressive than before and I figured I’d have to dip out sooner than expected. Today, his long shoulder length black hair is combed back with gel, his face clean shaven, and he’s wearing all black standing at 5’10 with a lean body. His left hand is up in a fist while his right hand tightly gripped onto his weapon. “Darling, come out… I don’t want to hurt you,” he says staring into my eyes from several feet away. I stand up slowly with my hand gripped tightly on my FN57. “You can’t win. Come to me, we can figure out this mess together,” he says so softly that it’s sickening. I come around the car with my gun pointed right between his eyes. He gives me an evil smile and opens out his left palm. “Jia, hand me the gun,” he says tilting his head. This is my only chance to survive and get away, even if I am about to get tortured… I reluctantly hand him my gun, he takes it, and hands it to one of his men. “Grab the case,” he says to one of his men, who proceeds to open the passenger door. Jason lifts his left hand to my face, and I flinch, but he just runs his cold fingers through my hair. “I’ve missed you, my cherry blossom,” he says and moves closer to my body so his lips are by my ear. “No more fighting, okay?” he says as he bops my nose with his finger. As he turns around to walk to his car, his men run up to grab me, restraining my hands with double zip ties. They pull me toward the SUV and push me into the back seat with Jason before slamming the door. “Where are we going?” I ask. “We’re going to finish the job,” Jason says while scooting closer to me and lifting my legs over his lap. “It’s a 10 hour drive,” he says sniffing my neck, “plenty of time for you to make it up to me,” he whispers into my ear. I feel a chill go down my spine. The cars all roar in unison and start to roll out of the establishment. Jason’s hand starts to feel up my outer thigh and goes up my skirt to play with the lining of my underwear. I’m starting to regret not having changed into my military clothes before I left, but I had to maintain appearances when leaving. He starts leaving sloppy kisses on my neck, and when our noses touch, I turn my head quickly to avoid his lips. My gesture must have lit him up, because the next thing I know, he’s tightly gripping my chin and forcing his tongue in my mouth. I use my tied up hands to make a giant fist and use all my strength to ram an uppercut onto his face like a volleyball hit. He falls backward onto his seat, moaning in pain and grabbing his nose. There’s a flash of anger in his eyes, as he pushes me onto my back and pulls my thighs apart, ripping my skirt. God damnit. I use my legs and tied wrists to push him off, but it seems that my struggle only excites him. He grabs my blouse and rips it apart, the buttons flying everywhere. Then, he gives me one last grin before he snaps off my bra like he’s opening presents on christmas. “Stay still you little b***h!” he yells as he chokes me with one hand while his other hand goes to unbutton his pants and slip out his hard d**k. I look up to the ceiling of the car interior, as I feel the head of his d**k at my entrance. This is it. I’m about to be r***d. There’s nothing I can do. It’s over. I feel tears welling up in my eyes from having given up… *sounds of glass breaking* The rear windshield breaks into pieces, and I feel Jason’s full body weight land on me. The car then swerves before the sound of another bullet whizzes past, hitting the driver in the head. Now we’re drifting in slow motion until the car abruptly crashes into a highway bumper causing us to roll off the seat. I land on top of Jason’s dead body. There’s a hole in the side of his head and blood sprayed everywhere. I look up to the front of the car and see the driver’s head fall onto his shoulder, dripping with blood from his bullet wound. I don’t have time to cover myself, as I open the door with my tied hands, walking out in the smoke. I feel like I can’t breathe, as I limp away from the destruction. I trip and scratch my knees on the asphalt, blinking away the tears. Right then, I see a pair of men’s tactical boots in front of me. He kneels down to wrap something warm around me. (Now speaking English) “Let’s get you outta here,” says the man in his deep voice. He slips out a knife out of nowhere and cuts my zip ties. Then his big warm calloused hands hold my hands as I stand up. “Are you…part…of the agency?” I ask between pants pulling at the ends of what I think is a jacket around me. I look down the highway and see that we’re blocking traffic. You can hear people yelling and honking everywhere. Several cars down, there’s a couple SUVs crashed into the bumper, just like the one I came out of. “I’m your pilot,” he says with a low chuckle. I stand back to take a good look at him this time. I almost do a double take because of how unexpectedly attractive he is. Standing at 6’2, he’s got pounds of muscle straining against his clothes, light brown hair, blueish green eyes, and dimples from his smile. He resembles Tom Hardy but dressed as a pilot. I think I’ve been staring too long, because he waves his hand in my face, “you good?” he asks. I’m probably blushing red at this point, and quickly try to recover by moving forward. “Ah f**k!” I yell out feeling a searing pain in my right leg. I look down to see a large shard of glass has embedded itself in my leg causing it to drip blood. Before I have a moment to inspect my wound, he’s already pulling out the shard, without any warning. I yelp in pain and he proceeds to tightly wrap my leg with his shirt. Wait, HIS SHIRT?! I look up and he’s topless…with his perfectly carved abs…his dog tag flapping against his hard pecks… I’m starting to feel hot in the face. To my surprise, he then picks me up bridle style, as he walks over calmly to his blacked out beamer. His cool cedar scent cologne envelops my senses, and I immediately feel so at ease, that I close my eyes. “I know I’m just hired to fly you from point A to point B, but I wasn’t just gonna watch them take you,” he says as he gently places me in the passenger seat and does my seat belt for me. He then moves to the driver’s seat, runs the car over the highway island, and drives south. I keep my eyes on the road so that I don’t have to see his Godly body. Just then, I realize my boobs are poking out of his jacket bouncing around as we drive. Beyond embarrassed at my indecent exposure, I zip up his jacket over my chest to cover up. “Hold on, did you just take out all those men back there?” I ask dumbfounded. “Yeah,” he says like it’s nothing. “Oh s**t! The case! I think I-“ I start but he interrupts me. “Don’t worry, I grabbed it,” he says without emotion. “I thought you’re just a pilot,” I say questioningly. I turn my head to look at his beautiful eyes and he smirks. “I am a pilot,” he says again, “—also, a retired special ops agent.” He gives me a toothy smile. “—and you’re welcome,” he finally adds. After what seemed like 20 minutes of speeding down the highway, we’re back at the abandoned facility where the jet sits waiting. He parks the car, grabs the case from his trunk, and carries me all the way up the steps of his jet. He places me down on a leather seat of his plane, puts on my seatbelt, and closes the hatch. Then he moves into the cockpit and starts pressing a bunch of buttons. The man moves FAST. “You okay there, Sammy?” he asks. “So, you know my name? Anything else you wanna tell me?” I ask feeling a bit out of the loop of this whole undercover mission. “It’s Colin. Colin King,” he yells over the roar of his jet engine. “But, if I can call you Sammy, then you can call me, Colli, aight? Only you though,” he adds. “Fine,” I say crossing my arms. “What?!” he yells over the engine. “I said okay!” I yell back. He gives me a thumbs up. A smile makes its way onto my lips. **Back to present** Just remembering how Colli and I met makes me smile. My fingers run along my lips, as I wonder where we’d be now, if he were still alive. Without warning, my eyes blur with tears and I grip the railing harder. Why? Why did they have to take him from me so early? He didn’t deserve that end. I didn’t deserve that end. I rub my nose and look down at the deep waves crashing against the ships bow. If I jumped here, right now, what would happen? Suddenly, I smell a familiar scent of cool cedar breeze by my nose. “Colli?” I side glance to the presence that’s inching closer to me. I bring my eyes up just quickly enough to see an orange shirt. Oh, it’s just a random man from the ship crew. Embarrassed at my tears, I turn away quickly, my eyes pointed downward and walk away as fast as I can.
