The Mark’s Rebellion

547 Words
The Mark’s Rebellion Pain ripped through Lila’s wrist. The mark flared—red-hot, searing up her arm. She screamed, collapsing to her knees as visions flooded her mind: cities burning under bloodlight, wolves bowing before a throne of bones, and at its center—a figure cloaked in shadow and flame. Damon caught her, shaking her shoulders. “Lila! What’s happening?” Tears streamed down her cheeks. “He’s inside me… he’s trying to—” The ground exploded beneath them. A wave of red light burst from the pit, throwing both of them backward. When Lila looked up, a shape was forming amid the glow—tall, winged, neither man nor beast. Its eyes burned white. “The prophecy begins anew,” it said. And then it vanished—leaving only silence, and the faint sound of her mark still sizzling against her skin. The Prophecy Unfolds The night was unnaturally still. Not silent—no. The forest breathed, the wolves shifted in their sleep, the wind whispered across the treetops. But beneath it all, something waited. Something ancient. Lyra stood at the old stone circle at the edge of the territory, the eclipse mark glowing faint gold under her skin. She didn’t remember walking here. Her feet had followed the pull on their own—like the earth itself was calling her. Her wolf stirred, fully awake now. “We were never ordinary.” “They just never saw us.” Lyra’s breath came slow. Controlled. But her heart beat with a strange, rising power. Then the air shimmered. The moonlight bent—like liquid silver gathering into shape. A figure formed in front of her. Not alive. Not dead. A spirit — robed in pale gold, eyes like stars. The Oracle of the Eclipse. She spoke not with her voice, but with the wind. “Daughter of the Moonfire Bloodline…” Lyra trembled. “The prophecy begins… because fate was broken.” --- Back in the Pack — Aiden Aiden woke with a gasp — his chest burning, lungs tight. He saw the same moonlight vision through the bond he thought he destroyed. The Oracle. Standing with Lyra. His heart dropped. No—no, she’s not ready—” His wolf roared inside him, fierce and desperate: “We were wrong.” Aiden staggered forward, grabbing the edge of the table to steady himself. For the first time… He was afraid of losing her. Not because she was fragile. But because she was rising beyond him. --- The Oracle and Lyra The spirit’s voice wove through the air: “The Alpha’s rejection did not sever destiny.” The mark shimmered brighter, pulsing like a second heartbeat. “It awakened it.” Lyra felt tears burn behind her eyes — not of sadness, but of realization. She wasn’t broken. She wasn’t weak. She wasn’t unwanted. She was chosen. "The Moon does not choose wrong, child.” The Oracle lifted her hand, and a ring of silver symbols flared around the stone circle. “When the Alpha denies the destined bond…” The wind howled suddenly — powerful, wild. “The Luna rises alone.” The final words echoed through the forest: “And the world shifts.” The light exploded outward. The prophecy had begun.
