The Moon Chooses War

545 Words
The moon hung full and heavy above the treetops, casting silver light over the forest like a silent warning. Its glow was too bright, too watchful. Because fate had shifted — and the world had felt it. --- The Bloodthorn Pack Far beyond the Blackfang borders, deep in the crimson woods, another Alpha sat upon a throne of dark stone. Alpha Kieran. His eyes were cold. His presence violent. His wolf ancient. He had felt the awakening. The rise of the Luna of the Eclipse Mark. And unlike Aiden… He did not fear her strength. He wanted it. A hooded tracker knelt before him, breath trembling. “My Alpha… the girl has awakened.” Kieran smiled — slow, razor-sharp. “The Moon has chosen a queen,” he murmured. His wolf growled in hunger beneath his skin. “Then she will belong to me.” --- Back at the Lake Lyra and Aiden stood only steps apart, the night thick with everything unspoken. Aiden opened his mouth — ready to answer her question — when the wind shifted sharply. Her wolf tensed. “Something is coming.” The air grew cold. Leaves stopped rustling. The forest didn’t breathe. Aiden’s eyes snapped to the shadows between the trees — every instinct in him swelling to the surface. Lyra spoke first. “We’re not alone.” Three silhouettes stepped out of the darkness. Warriors — cloaked in Bloodthorn colors. The crimson wolf sigil bleeding across their armor. The lead warrior smiled. “Luna Lyra,” he said — not questioning, not mocking. Acknowledging Aiden stepped forward instinctively — but Lyra raised a hand. He stopped. Not because she forced him. But because her presence commanded it. The warrior continued: “Our Alpha sends us with an invitation.” Lyra’s jaw tightened. “What kind of invitation?” The warrior bowed his head. “To stand at his side as his Queen.” The forest fell dead silent. Aiden’s wolf snarled so violently that the air itself shivered. Lyra did not flinch. Her voice was calm. “I am not his. I belong to no Alpha.” The warrior`s smile widened just slightly — cruel, confident. “You will. One way or another.” Aiden Something inside him snapped. Not rage. Not possessiveness. Not dominance. Something deeper. Fear. Not of losing her — but of her being taken. He stepped in front of her — not claiming her — but protecting her. His voice was low, lethal. “If your Alpha wants war— he will have it.” The warrior laughed once — sharp. “War has already chosen you.” He disappeared back into the shadows. The night exhaled. The danger had only just begun Lyra She stood still. The moon reflected in her eyes — not frightened not shaken Just aware. Her wolf spoke softly within her: “Destiny is moving.” drew in a slow breath. “Then we move with it.” Aiden looked at her — not as Alpha to Luna not as leader to subordinate But as man to woman and whispered, “We face this together.” She didn’t look away. “We face this as equals.” The bond between them trembled — not broken not healed But awakening.
