Dimitri's POV
Exactly three days after the Rossi confrontation, I sat across from Sheriff Andrea Wheeler in a secure location, and the recording device sat between us on the table.
Wheeler had listened to Carlo's confession twice, but his expression never changed. It remained solemn as he digested all the words, although I could see his hands trembling slightly as Carlo's voice admitted to murdering his wife and daughter.
"This is enough," he said finally, his voice rough as he reached to switch the recording device off. "More than enough to arrest him, to build a case that even his most expensive lawyers can't weasel out of."
Wheeler's firm gaze landed on me, and I saw the war raging behind them—the lawman versus the father, justice versus vengeance.
