The way she said "partnership" made my skin crawl.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I repeated slowly.
I glanced over at Dimitri and saw his entire body had gone rigid, hands clenched into fists at his sides, jaw so tight I thought it might snap.
"Nothing formal, of course," Valor said smoothly, though his eyes gleamed. "Just an opportunity for young people to get acquainted. Trevor's father is very influential in political circles, and it would be... beneficial... for our families to grow closer."
