REGOR was back at the Alpha Mouhiere Empire, where he now kept permanent residence. He rarely handled any work personally—his extensive staff managed nearly all operations.
He received a call from his private investigator with news that set him ablaze with anger: Dindo had been abducted, and the kidnappers were not part of his organization. Regor was furious—Dindo was his only bargaining chip against Amore, and someone had stolen his advantage.
Just then, Ezekiel—his most trusted right-hand man—entered the room.
"Boss, I have good news. Our products have come through—our team successfully smuggled them in. We’ll be making huge profits again."
"Good. But shift your focus immediately—find out who abducted Dindo Ruiz. Report back the moment you have information. They’ll learn the consequences of crossing me. I am the King of All Kings—no one can defeat me," he said, followed by a cold, menacing laugh.
"Yes, boss. I’ll get started right away."
"All right. When you leave, send Scarlett in if she’s outside."
"Yes, sir."
Ezekiel stepped out and immediately found Scarlett, informing her that Regor wanted to see her. He’d had feelings for her for years, and their colleagues often teased him about how he’d stare at her—but she paid him no mind, focused solely on her duties.
"Hi, Scarlett—good morning. Regor’s asking for you. Go straight to his office. I’ll see you later," he said with a wink, trying to appear charming. Even though he was handsome, she was completely unaffected.
"Thanks. And don’t bother ‘seeing me later’—I’m not interested," she replied sarcastically before walking off.
She entered Regor’s private chambers—a room so grand he’d named it his "palace" within the empire. Its size and opulence matched his ego, justifying his self-proclaimed title as the King of All Kings.
Regor sat in his chair, his eyes sharp and intense as he watched her approach. His hands were clenched tightly, struggling to contain his rage.
"So you finally show up, Scarlett. What have you done now? How did someone kidnap Dindo before we could get to him? Answer me—don’t just stand there in silence! Dammit, Scarlett!" he shouted.
"I… I don’t know who took him. I’m sorry I didn’t act sooner—my mother got sick, and I had to tend to her. I’m truly sorry, Regor," she lied, her voice steady despite her racing heart.
"Dammit! If you’d told me your mother was ill, I would have assigned someone else to the task. This is why I can never rely on anyone fully."
"I’m sorry—she was in critical condition, and I didn’t think to tell you. But whoever took him must be one of your enemies… or Amore. She’s not here, but we both know how resourceful she is."
"Make sure you’re telling the truth, Scarlett. I’ve told you before—I’ll kill you without a trace if you betray me. Amore was like a loyal dog to me for ten years, and even she turned against me. You’ve been here eight years and accomplished little—don’t think I won’t dispose of you just as easily!"
"Don’t compare me to others. Everyone has their own secrets and reasons for being here. I’m not like them—I’m telling you the truth. What would I gain by lying? You’re my only boss—please forgive me. This will never happen again."
Regor stood up and walked toward her, his presence looming over her.
"Just be sure of that. If you think you can fool me, you’re wrong. I didn’t build this empire by being foolish or weak—don’t ever try to manipulate me."
"Why are you so fixated on Amore? She’s gone, and she’ll come back when she’s ready. You know her—she won’t let things end this way."
"Dammit! Don’t tell me what to do, Scarlett. You’re nothing but a hired enforcer—a murderer, plain and simple. So don’t you dare tell me what I should want!" he snarled, grabbing her cheek in a tight, painful grip.
"Let go of me," she said firmly. "And don’t give me any more orders about Amore. I’m resigning—effective today."
Even though she knew he could kill her for it, she refused to back down.
"Resign? Then by tomorrow, you’ll be a cold corpse. Is that what you want?"
"Kill me if you want—if it makes you happy. Even in hell, my soul will haunt you until justice is done. You’re worthless, Regor—your power won’t last forever. One day, someone will make you pay for all the harm you’ve caused. Remember that."
"i***t!"
He slapped her hard across the face, sending her falling to the floor. He pulled out his gun and aimed it directly at her.
"Shoot me—don’t let me live another moment if you’re going to do it. I’ll hold you accountable for every innocent life you’ve taken, and for what you did to Amore. May the devil take you!" Scarlett said, staring up at him with fierce anger.
Regor said nothing—he pulled the trigger.
A series of gunshots echoed through the room, then silence fell. Regor approached her and checked for a pulse. Finding none, he gave his order.
"Throw that traitor’s body into the river—feed it to the crocodiles. At least she’ll be useful for something."
"Yes, sir. But why did you kill her? What did she do wrong?"
"I won’t tolerate betrayal from anyone. Don’t you dare turn against me either—you’ll suffer far worse than Scarlett did!"
To him, her life meant nothing. He was enraged by her words, and in his eyes, losing one staff member was no loss at all.
Ezekiel was filled with anger but could do nothing—he was no match for Regor.
"Where are you taking her body?" he asked the guard.
"To the river. That’s what traitors deserve."
"Let me handle it instead—I’ll bury her in a secret place. Don’t tell Regor. It’s the least we can do. Here’s a photo of Dindo—you focus on finding him first."
"All right, that’s better. I don’t want to throw a body into the water—I’d be too scared to sleep at night thinking she’d haunt me!"
Ezekiel managed a weak laugh. "You’re being foolish—ghosts aren’t real. Go find Dindo. I’ll take care of this."
Once the guard left, Ezekiel loaded Scarlett’s body into his car. He still couldn’t believe the woman he’d argued with so many times was gone.
He drove to a forest, planning to bury her there so he could visit her grave regularly. He pulled her from the trunk, checked her over carefully, and began digging.
He didn’t notice the figure watching from the shadows until a heavy blow struck him on the head, knocking him unconscious. The stranger picked up Scarlett and carried her away.
