Oliver has been avoiding Saber since their encounter. He is trying not to look at Saber's way but it is proving to be a hard task. It is like his eyes wanted to follow the guy's every move. He is just so embarrassed by what happened and it is still burned in his mind - clearly.
He is now questioning his sexuality. All the years that he had been alive he has never been attracted to guys, just girls. And then Saber came and his sexuality is now being questioned? How great. He can't comprehend anything that happened. All he knows is that he needs to get away from that boy as long as he can so whatever that he is feeling would go away. Well, that is what he wished.
It's been three days now that he strayed away from anything that involved Saber and every day seems to get harder and harder to do that.
They are now in their second to the last class of the day which is their music class. Unfortunately, he had this as well as their last class with Saber. He had dreaded these subjects to come more - especially the first and second day - because this is the subjects that they do lessons less so they have more time in their hands and it means more time for his mind or eyes to wander to Saber because there is no teacher in front.
Yana was also in their music class so somehow she became a little distraction for Oliver. He just talks to Yana whenever he feels the urge to look or think about Saber.
Currently, he is talking to her and some of their classmates regarding the music concert project - it was going to be their class project - their teacher announced earlier before prancing her way towards the teacher's lounge. Seriously, that teacher does not care what they do in their class as long as she said something that they need to do and she instantly bolted away from them like they have some kind of disease.
They are talking about the acts that are going to be presented, what instrument will they play and who will be in charge of the whole thing.
Oliver was only half-listening to their discussion. He can feel someone's eyes staring at him, following his every move. He can only guess that it is Saber. Since the incident that happened between them, he can always feel Saber's eyes piercing his body whenever he is around. It was creepy but at the same time, he kind of liked the attention he was getting. He is so contradicting.
He took a peek over his shoulder. Actually, he can see that Saber looked awful. Not like the confident guy that he met three days ago but Saber has bags under his eyes like he hasn't slept in days. He also looked like he loses some weight on him. Though all of the negatives that Oliver saw Saber, he still looks like a handsome model - just a tired handsome model.
Saber caught Oliver looking at him and he saw a small smile appear on the boy's plump lips. Oliver looked away only to look back that he almost got whiplash. He heard a thud and gasps from the girls. His eyes widen at what he saw.
Saber is sprawled on the floor unconscious.
Oliver's body just went autopilot and moved without his permission. He needed to get to Saber no matter what. He pressed himself in between their classmate. Although many of their classmates circled the unconscious boy, Oliver still manages to get in the middle of it.
Gently, he pressed his palm on Saber's cheek. "Saber. Saber." He to the boy but he remained unconscious.
'Oh God' Oliver exclaimed in his mind. He is very worried about Saber. He may not like what he is feeling towards the boy but he can't help the concern he has for Saber. It's just there and right now he doesn't care if he feels that way. Saber needs him now.
"Help me carry him to the nurse's office," Oliver ordered. "Yana, please inform Ms. Henry of what happened and where are we, okay?"
No one argued with Oliver when he took charge. Two guys from their class hauled Saber on their shoulder while Oliver opened the door. They immediately took Saber inside the nurse's office to get help.
"Hey -" The lively greeting of the nurse inside was cut off when she saw the unconscious student. "What happened?"
"We were having our music class when suddenly he just collapsed and fell unconscious. I tried on waking him up but to no avail." Oliver explained to the nurse.
The nurse nodded and gestured the boys to lay Saber's body down the gurney inside the office. The two guys said that they need to get back to class so they left Oliver with the nurse and Saber.
"Did you know what caused his collapse?" Oliver shook his head at the nurse.
She checked Saber's temperature, blood pressure, and his eyes with lights as well as his mouth. Oliver just watched the nurse moved around Saber and stayed quiet.
'Please be okay. Please be okay. Please be okay.' Oliver mused over and over again like a mantra.
"He will be fine. It's just fatigue. His body did not get enough sleep and food so it automatically shuts down so he can rest." The nurse said after checking on Saber. "He just needs to rest and eat so that his energy can be restored. I'll call his father about this so he can come and pick up his son to go home. Will it be okay if I leave you here so that I can get his father's contact number at the registrar?"
Oliver nodded silently at the nurse and she just smiled softly at him before going out to go to the registrar.
'I knew something was wrong with him. I saw the way he looked. Why didn't I do something? I am so inconsiderate' He pondered. Somehow thinking that it was his fault that this thing happened to Saber.
He looked at Saber's peaceful face as he sleeps. Oliver can see some colors returning on Saber's face. That made him sigh in relief. After a while of watching Saber, he didn't even notice that he fell asleep as well with his head beside Saber's hand until he was shaken awake by the nurse.
"Oliver, Saber's father is already here to pick him up." The nurse whispered.
He nodded and looked behind him. The man had dark brown hair and black eyes. And though he looked attractive for a middle-aged man, he looked nothing like his son. Not even a single similarity in their looks gave away that they are related.
"Hello. I am Jason Lovelace, Saber's father." Saber's father said with a smile and offered his right hand for a handshake.
Oliver took Mr. Lovelace's hand and shook it. "Hi, Mr. Lovelace. I am Saber's classmate, Oliver. Nice to meet you."
He didn't know if it was only an illusion created by his eyes but Oliver can see amusement dancing on the older man's eyes and a slight smirk on his lips.
"Nice to meet you too, Oliver." Even the way Mr. Lovelace pronounced Oliver's name gave a hint that there is a meaning behind it. "Please, call me Jason. Mr. Lovelace makes me sound old." Mr. Love - I mean Jason said then have a heartily chuckle.
"Okay, Jason," Oliver replied shyly.
Jason smiled softly at Oliver and pats his head gently before turning his attention to the nurse. "Can Oliver come with me to take Saber home? I just need a hand to take care of Saber. You know being a single parent I have no one else to turn to."
"That's fine Mr. Lovelace. I'll just inform their teacher regarding this." The nurse answered politely.
"Thank you," Jason said. "Now to get this stubborn boy home."
Oliver was a little shocked that Jason just scooped up Saber like a child and carried him outside. It's like Saber weighs nothing in his father's arms.
"Shouldn't we wake him up so that you won't have to carry him like that Jason?" Oliver asked.
"No, I am fine. I've been carrying this boy like this since he was little. And besides, I am not that old I still have muscles you know." Jason said with a hint of a joke in his voice.
He can't help but smile at Jason's answer. It seems like this father and son are really close to each other. Oliver thought it was cute that Saber is being carried like a child by his father and can't resist the urge to take a picture so he did. Jason even smiled goofily at the camera.
When they reached Jason's car, Oliver helped Jason get Saber at the back of the car.
"Can you stay there Oliver so that he can lean on you? That way he won't have to wake up." Jason asked Oliver. He didn't have the heart to say no so he climbed in after they placed Saber in the back seat while Jason climbed in front in the driver's seat.
"Going home." Jason started the car. Then they are on their way towards the Lovelace residence.
****
"Man, this boy is getting heavier and heavier," Jason complained when he put Saber down on his bed.
Oliver was awed at the size of the Lovelace residence. It was huge and very beautiful. Compare to their house it looks like a mansion. And stepping inside his mouth hanged open even more. He concluded that the Lovelace is loaded.
With that thought in his mind, he wonders why the father and son came and live in their small town when it seems like they can live in a big city.
Though Oliver is really curious, he didn't have the guts to ask Jason the question he has in his mind.
"You do know he is growing right? He is a tall teenage boy now with muscles, not the little boy you used to carry around." Oliver can't help but blurt out.
"I know." Jason looked gently at the sleeping Saber. "I just want to treat him like a child until I can't anymore."
Oliver felt like an intruder to the father and son moment. He can see the love that Jason feels for his son. The doubt in Oliver's mind before that maybe Jason isn't Saber's dad vanished. Even if those two didn't look anything alike, the father and son bond between them is so strong that you almost touch it.
"Well, enough of me being sappy." Then Jason stands up. "I'll be downstairs if you need me, Oliver. I will be making dinner for us." He smiled at Oliver and was off to the kitchen.
He let his eyes wander all around the room of Saber. It was a typical boy's room. It was painted dark blue with a game console and big T.V. It was also a little messy but other boys are a lot messier so Oliver doesn't mind. He also saw the bookshelf in Saber's room and was shocked to see that most of the things on the bookshelf are actual books not just comics or other things that were put there blindly.
Oliver looked back on Saber's bed when he heard it groaned. He walked towards a waking Saber and sat at the end of the bed.
"W-what happened?" Saber asked when he opened his eyes. Oliver can see the tiredness in Saber's eyes even though he slept for like three hours.
"You blacked out in school," Oliver explained.
"Wha - " Saber started to ask but it's like recognition flashed in his eyes.
Oliver steadied Saber when he sat up.
"I need to tell you something, Oliver. Something out of this world and I know you won't believe me but I'm telling you it is the truth and I am not lying."
