CHAPTER 10: YOU STINK DIFFERENT

2454 Words
Throughout the weekend, Saber couldn’t get the love-struck look on his face no matter how hard he tried. Everything inside of him is all kinds of happy that we feel like he will burst any moment because of it. He knows that he doesn’t usually feel like this, especially before when they are living in another country. He is just reserved and doesn't socialize much. And sometimes he is just plain cruel to those people he feeds on. It's just that Oliver is so different from those people. Sure, he has never had anything so close to the taste of Oliver. But that boy is more than food for him and he can feel it. He just doesn’t want to taste the unique flavor of Oliver but experience everything with him. Saber wants another date with Oliver where they can just be alone beside each other even without any of their body parts touching – just feeling the presence of Oliver by his side would be enough for him – it was more than enough. He wanted to know everything about Oliver – what he likes, what his plans are for the future, what makes him smile – anything that he can learn from that boy is like the greatest treasure he can have. Why did he just have to find Oliver now? He could have been feeling this way years before. Jason saw the look in his son’s eyes and he couldn’t help but just shake his head. It was truly weird what love can do to a person. He is happy about what is going on in his son’s life, but he can’t shake the feeling of being scared. They are not what other people consider normal and the time will come when they will have to flee again. He doesn’t want to be a hindrance to Saber’s blooming romance, but sooner or later he will be. He just hoped that it would be later rather than sooner. **** Monday morning approaches and while everyone is dreading the start of the week, Saber was feeling excited to see Oliver again. It might be awkward after what happened on their date but he doesn’t care about that. What he cared about is that he finally got somewhat close to Oliver. He was waiting patiently at the main door of the school. He can hear the chatters of the students passing by. Most of them looked sideways at him awkwardly before going back to their conversations. Most probably because of the ruckus he created last Friday. Some greeted him but most girls gave him the evil eye – especially that Pauline. Saber can’t help but cringe at that. He was regretting kissing that girl just to get Oliver off his mind and tongue but he can’t help but feel sorry for her too. It was his fault that he gave that girl a false hope by kissing her then three days later he will announce his affection towards another person and it is a boy. It must’ve hurt her ego big time. He just signed at that thought. Saber just hoped that what he did won’t cause any harm, especially to Oliver. It was quite common that homosexuals are bashed because of their sexuality. It was absurd how people can judge another person just because of who they love. He might have been contemplating being gay before and how he was not like him to like another guy but honestly speaking he was not the kind of person who easily judges others. Saber’s dad made sure that he won’t be a jerk when it came to the preference of other people. It was drilled in his brain that he must respect what other people like. “Your brain might fry up from all the thinking you are doing.” He heard someone say from beside him. Looking at the direction where he heard the voice, Saber saw Yana and Oliver at his side. It seems like Yana was the one who interrupted his train of thought. Yana was in front of Saber wearing a frilly skirt and a shirt that has a band logo that he had never heard of while Oliver was shyly hiding behind Yana wearing his casual v-neck shirt, black pants, and a hoodie. Oliver was looking at his feet – clearly avoiding any eye contact with Saber. Expecting the kind of behavior that Oliver is doing, Saber can’t help but gave a little smile at the boy. The fringe of Oliver is barely covering his eyes and he can see the light pink that dusted the face of the boy. He finds that very cute. “Good morning Oli. Yana.” Saber greeted the pair. “Hmph.” Yana glared at him. “Sure, greet Oliver first even though I am the one who talked to you.” Saber can’t help being amused at Yana while Oliver looked horrified at his friend. “Sorry about that Yana but you know my affections are only for Oli. So I can’t help it if he’s the first in everything when it comes to me.” He watched as a grin grew at Yana’s face before emitting a loud squeal. She began shaking Oliver whose face was now brightly red. A chuckle escaped from his lips – partly from a little embarrassment from the cheesy line that he said and partly because of the scene in front of him. Somehow he felt envious of the bond between Oliver and Yana. They were best friends. Though Saber is popular everywhere he goes he didn’t have any close friends. They kept moving from one place to another and he didn't get a chance to form a deep bond to anyone. It might be a great feeling to have someone back you up or comforts you or just be there at your side. Saber subtlety shook his head. ‘No time for depressing thoughts’ After Saber’s showcase of being cheesy, they fell into a mindless chit chat while going to their lockers. They talk about anything and he felt like he belongs even though he only knew these two for a few days. Before he even knew it the bell for the first-class rang. “Uh, I have government first.” Yana declared while waving them goodbye. “I’ll see you both at lunch.” “Let’s go before we get late slips in History,” Oliver said. “Come on.” Saber answered and unconsciously reached out his hands to grasp Oliver’s before pulling him towards their classroom. Saber can see Oliver blushing from the corner of his eyes as he look down at their hands. He can’t help the smile that grew on his lips because of the boy’s reaction. Oliver’s hand is soft and warm while Saber’s a little bit rough and big but somehow they fit together perfectly. ‘Just like I imagined it to be.’ **** It was lunchtime and as per usual, the cafeteria is packed with students. Saber was finding it hard to look for Oliver and Yana after getting his tray of food. All he can see are mops of hair. Since it would be hard to use just his sense of sight he tried to locate them using Oliver’s luscious smell. At first, all he can smell is cafeteria food and icky sweat from all the students. But after taking a huge breath of the air, somehow he can pick out Oliver’s smell. It was subtle because of all the scent inside the room but it was still the best thing that Saber had ever smelled. He made his way towards the table near the right side of the door where finally he saw the pair he was looking for. “Hey, guys.” He greeted them before placing his tray in the table and sitting beside Oliver. “How’s it going?” Both of the mumbled some incoherent answer to which Saber just shrugged his arm. Even though the food in his tray tasted pretty good, Saber’s mouth is salivating for another kind of food. Having close contact with Oliver this close is making his taste bud go crazy. Since his arm is almost touching Oliver’s arm – he was feeling faint electric shocks like when you suddenly brushed other people's arm – the fragrance that can only be defined as uniquely Oliver is wafting through his nose. He might have a fill of the boy during their date but it seems like the more he tastes Oliver the more he is becoming addicted to it – like how a drug addict is addicted to... well drugs. “So Saber it seems like you and little Oli here had fun on your date.” Yana suddenly said. Recounting the events of their dates both boys can’t help the burning of both their faces. It made Yana raise her eyebrows at the two boys. She was thinking that maybe a little more action happened than what Oliver told her. “Yeah, it was great.” Saber shyly said while scratching the back of his neck. It was a habit of him whenever he feels nervous, shy or uncertain. Saber was getting used to the pungent smell of Oliver when suddenly it changes. It was somehow still the same but different at the same time. It was still sweet but with a little bit more flavor, like when you smell a savory cupcake it was still sweet but there is still that distinct taste that it wasn’t all sweet. Looking at Oliver curiously he tried to figure out what the change means. He never had an experience where the smell of someone suddenly changes. Sure sometimes the smell of other people became strong or faint depending on the activities they are doing – like their scent became faint when sleeping but became stronger when they are being emotional – things like that but it never changes the scent like what is happening now. Feeling his gaze, Oliver looked at Saber. Their eyes meet briefly before Oliver ducked and mumbled something still looking red as ever. Having the urge to find out what is happening, Saber pulled Oliver out of his seat and dragged him out of the cafeteria. He can hear Yana calling both of their names but he ignored all the calls. “Where are we g-going?” Oliver asked softly. Saber didn’t answer and just continued pulling Oliver. He needed a place where they can talk privately. Talking at the cafeteria will be a big no, in some way he can feel the stare of students in their way and eavesdropping in their conversation. So he needed another place to discuss with Oliver and being new to the school gave him a disadvantage on where are the good spots for privacy. Saber just walked and walked while dragging Oliver until he decided that they can probably talk at the back of the school. Glad that no one is back there, he pulled Oliver over. “What are we d-doing here?” Oliver asked. ‘Is it a crime that I am thinking that Oliver stuttering looked adorable?’ Saber mused. “I just need to talk to you.” Saber answered. “I just want to talk where we won’t have an audience.” “What are we going to talk about that needed us to be at the back of the school?” Oliver questioned. Trying to put his inquiry in words, Saber thought carefully of what he was going to say. He needed to know what triggered the change of scent. The smell is still the same, still not the sweet smell that Saber was accustomed to. It’s getting stronger. “What were you thinking back at the cafeteria?” Saber inquired safely. “What?” Oliver asked confused. “When?” “You know after Yana asked about our date.” After pondering on Saber’s question, Oliver’s eyes suddenly looked wide. “N-nothing.” Seeing the reaction of the boy in front of him made Saber more curious. It looked like it was far from nothing. He took a step closer to Oliver while the boy took a step back. Saber was staring down at Oliver trying to pry the answer he wants from the boy. They continued what they were doing until Oliver was backed up against the wall with nowhere to go. “Come on Oli, tell me.” Saber whispered at Oliver’s ear. He felt Oliver shudder at his ministration. Saber can’t help but smile. He liked that Oliver was greatly affected by his presence. It just means that he was being noticed more by the boy. “I told y-you it was nothing,” Oliver said while looking the other way. “Why are you so close?” “I know for a fact that it wasn’t just 'nothing' because if it is you won’t be nervous like this.” Oliver’s scent became more pungent as time pass by it was almost suffocation Saber, in a good way. His mouth is salivating and he can’t help but take in the smell more and more. The gap between the boys’ bodies was closed by Saber. He runs his nose up and down Oliver’s neck sniffing Oliver but he was taken aback when he felt something that he stopped what he was doing. His thigh was between Oliver’s and he felt Oliver’s semi hard-on twitch in his pants. Like some weird guy, he is he pushed his thighs further on Oliver’s crotch which causes a moan to erupt from Oliver’s mouth. “You’re aroused.” Saber breathed. Oliver just whimpered and looked away face red from embarrassment. Then it just clicked. The scent was changed because of the state Oliver is in and what he was feeling. It was weird that it never happened before. He had partners before and prior to his arrival here he had his food all sexed up for them to taste even better but never did their scent change. Maybe it’s just that Oliver is special. ‘Come to think of it Oliver’s changed scent is kind of familiar in some way. Maybe because I smelled it on our date but to elated because of what happened to actually acknowledge it.’ Saber concluded. He looked at Oliver again. Study his face and expression. “Look at me Oli.” Saber whispered. Oliver just shook his head at Saber. Saber sighed and put his fingers under Oliver’s chin and pull his head so that he is facing Saber. “There is nothing to be ashamed of my dear Oli.” Saber assured Oliver then he lowered his head.
