“Exactly,” Fitch agreed. “This was designed to serve about three hundred people, but we need to be able to handle several thousand. The engineers have confirmed the expansion is possible. The problem is, when these people wake up, we don't know what they'll face. They'll need a sizable amount of food, perhaps enough for one or two years. That means a massive amount of food storage space, including warehouse-size freezers. I don't think eating MREs for two years will cut it,” Fitch explained, referring to the military's pre-packaged Meal Ready to Eat packets which could be eaten anywhere, anytime and would last on the shelf for many years.
