The forest seemed to close in on her, every sound made louder in the silence around her. Jess staggered up to her feet, her head still banging from the blow. She pressed her hand to the wound, hissing at the sharp pain she felt in return. Blood smeared all over her fingers as she pulled them away, her heart sinking. She was all alone and injured and without a clue of where she was. All she could remember was the ambush and being pushed away to safety.
