"I need some new trunks, my old ones ripped the other day.", he laughs, probably remembering how. "Okay, there's a clothing store over there, but I don't know if they have what you're looking for.", I start to pull him along with me, brushing a hand through my hair as we enter the next mission, searching for the swimsuit section. I notice a few weird looks from a group of guys standing next to the snapbacks, grinning over at us. My heart stings and I feel dizzy, slowly letting go of his hand. "I think they're over there.", I whisper, trying to release it while speeding up a little, but of course, Nathan doesn't play along and simply gives my hand a death squeeze.
We finally found what we're looking for, the group leaves the store with a last finger point towards us and laughter, a sense of relief rushing through me. But the stinging in my chest didn't exactly ease up, I know that this will always be the consequence of being with him. "Are you okay?" he asks, a worried glint in his eyes. "Everything fine and dandy!", I try to reassure him, taking my gaze off him and focusing back on the different trunks.
"I'll try this one!" he takes a black pair of long shorts from the hanger and holds them closer to his... Boy parts. "Sure, they look good.", I smile, eying the piece closely before looking away with a slight blush. Nathan grabs the exact same ones but in a different size and starts heading for the changing rooms. I'm not sure if I should follow or not, since I will most definitely not go in there with him. Claire used to do that all the time though, I can't remember a time where I would actually change without her staring at me or poor me just standing in the corner trying to look at my phone while she stripped right there. It may be because we literally grew up knowing each other’s body and not trying to hide it from one another. Like siblings. Although I don't think I would share a fitting room with my actual sister. That's really weird when you think about it that way.
Suddenly, there is a warm hand grabbing a hold of mine again and I look up into Nathan's face, a small smile formed on his lips wrinkling the sides of his mouth slightly. "Are you coming?", he asks, snapping me completely out of my thoughts. I nod absently before following him to the separate rooms in the back. I hope he doesn't want me to come "with with" him. He checks for a free one and hangs the two black trunks on the bar drilled onto the wooden wall. "Do you want to come inside or wait?", he asks, a smirk causing his face to darken a little. "I'll wait.", I whisper, avoiding direct eye contact as the blush grew wider. I've literally made out with him but I can't go into the same changing room? Logic!
I sit down on one of the chairs they placed in front of the curtains, probably for mothers when their daughters invade the store and pick every third item of clothing they can find. Placing the paper bag with my book on my lap, I patiently wait for my boyfriend to get changed and it doesn't take long for the curtain to be swooshed open, revealing a half-naked Nathan with only the trunks and his boxers underneath from what I can tell. He didn't have to take off his shirt if you ask me, since it's only about the lower part. Nathan comes towards me, pulling me to my feet before turning around in a 360 degree circle. "What do you think?", he asks as he comes to an halt again, noticing how my eyes followed his movement closely.
"They suit you.", I manage to say after a few seconds of silence, meeting his gaze once again. "Do you think they're too tight?", he takes my hand, guiding my index finger between his warm, soft skin and the silky fabric and tugging at it. My heart skips a beat and my face literally feels like it's burning up. "N-no! They- fine, they're fine." I stutter, trying to look somewhere else and not at my finger at the waistband of the trunks. He slowly lifts my hand again, interlacing our fingers. I look at him, a huge smile on his face. "Don't worry, I'm just playing with you.", he pecks my lips gently, letting go of my hand and turning around to get dressed again, the curtain swooshing closed.
I let myself fall back on the chair, my heart still beating way too fast and my hands a sweaty mess. Why does he keep doing stuff like that, he knows how easily I can get flustered? Is it because I wasn't willing to tell Anna I was gay right away, is this him getting back at me? After he got dressed again, the curtains open and we both head for the register. While Nathan pays, I look through a stack of shirts, trying to calm my mind a little.
A hand on my shoulder makes me flinch in surprise but of course it's just Nathan. "Ready to go?", he asks, noticing the pieces of clothing I'm holding onto. "Yup, ready.", I smile slightly, dropping the shirts back on the pile and followed Nathan as we exited the store, looking for another store to go to.
We didn't stay long after that, just wandering through a tea store and smelling the different flavors. But there was one good thing that came with this whole mall date, I didn't think about the surgery all the time, so all in all it was quite fun and I got the number of a girl, although I won't be looking forward to meeting her again. But I promised. I promised him and I will keep that promise. We both headed for the car to drive back to the house, deciding to go over to his place since my family is still kinda on edge because of the whole doctor thing and my sister hardly leaves my side.
Nathan leads the way into his house and to his room where we both place our bag. "Do you want a pair of sweatpants?", he asks, pointing towards his closet in the corner of the room. "Sure.", I nod, sitting down on his bed and watching him as he searches for a pair of pants, settling for dark gray ones and passing them on to me. "Thank you.", I mumble, slowly taking them out of his hand, staring at them thoughtfully. Should I just change in front of him? I don't understand why I'm having second thoughts now. He has already seen me without pants, even without a shirt, so why is it such a problem now?
With one last sigh, I unbutton my pants, not daring to look at my boyfriend as I slip out of my jeans and into the comfortable sweats. Nathan had already changed into black ones, checking something on his phone but averting his gaze towards me as soon as I step closer to him. He smiles, not saying a word and just staring at me, like this morning when we were waiting for our food. Before he could say anything, I exit his room to head downstairs to the living room, knowing that he will be following me either way.
My watch vibrates as I sit down on the cold leather couch, making me shudder and look down on the small device around my wrist. To my surprise it's not Anna begging for me to come over for dinner but Claire! She probably wants to know if I'm considering the surgery or not.
Hey hot stuff! How are you? Are you still at the mall with Nathan or are you back at home? Just wanted to ask if you want to go to the pool with me on Tuesday next week? You can bring Nathan and that girl boy, Mika. And your sister of course. Let me know what you think!
That's unexpected but come to think of it, we originally wanted to go to the public pool together but since we weren't talking to each other during that time so it got canceled. Kinda. We never talked about it afterwards. But this time there won't be a Dillon accompanying us. The couch dips down as Nathan lets himself fall next to me, the sudden change causing me to slide closer to him. "Say, do you want to go to the pool with Claire, maybe Mika and my sister?", I ask him, looking over at him. "Sure, that's really the only enjoyable thing to do with that kind of weather.", he points to the window, "And of course, going to the mall with your cute boyfriend."
He wraps his arms around me and pulls me onto his chest before I had a chance to answer him and most likely pout because of the fact he called me cute. "Nathan!", I whine, trying to get off of him. After a few seconds he lets go reluctantly, allowing me glance at him again. "I left my phone in my pants pocket, so if you'll excuse me.", I grin with raised eyebrows, wanting to get up but immediately being pulled onto his lap. "You don't need your phone right now.", he smirks, closing the little space between us and sealing our lips gently.
I sigh into the kiss, slowly starting to relax in his embrace, my heart not pounding quite as fast and my face probably less red. Carefully, he lays me down on the couch, his lap disappearing underneath me with only the, now, warm and soft leather steadying my back. Nathans face hoovers above me, his knees on each side of my body, so are his hands as he lowers himself to kiss me once again. I can't help but smile into it, more than happy with how things are right now, wondering maybe even hoping that this won't ever change. Well, there is one thing that wouldn't be too bad if it changed and that's the whole thing with being deaf. I would love to hear his voice, hear what it sounds like.
The body on top of me jerks slightly as I accidentally bite his tongue, the taste of iron spreading inside my mouth. My eyes widen and I stare at him in utter shock. Nathan sits back on my stomach, holding a hand over his mouth but I did see a smile on his face. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I was distracted!" I try to apologize, repeating myself multiple times. He removes his hand, the smile had grown wider. "Don't worry, it's alright. It just caught me off guard, been quite a while since someone last bit my tongue.", he laughs, sticking out his tongue at me, a small red spot near the tip. I look down in embarrassment, the fact that I bit him tugging at my heart.
He lifts my chin, still sitting heavy on my stomach. "Don't feel bad, it's okay.", he leans back towards my lips for another kiss. This time I try to concentrate, try to focus on what's going on in front of me and the movement of his tongue sliding across my lower lip and making contact with my own. My eyes are squeezed shut and shoulders tensed up. Nathan breaks the kiss and I stare up at him, an amused smirk on his face. "Relax, don't think about it at all!", he assures me, his warm fingers sliding over my cheeks and down my neck, causing shivers to crawl underneath my skin.
