Part 11 - Power

Emptiness was largely felt as he removed his fingers from me and pulled up his trousers. The incessant banging on the front door had grown louder and louder with each passing moment and Ben clenched his jaw tightly as he stormed towards it. Without a second thought, I chased after him wondering what the commotion was, but as the door was abruptly pulled open, I didn't have enough time to stop my feet and ended up running into Ben's back. Eyes teeming with rage stared at Ben and I realised I was standing in the door way facing Stellan and Jodie in nothing but an oversized shirt and shorts.      Ben leaned on the door and chuckled low, "Of course you came. Always did have a habit of being a c**k block." He nodded his head back at me and smirked.     There are moments in life no matter how old you are, when you know know you've done something wrong and get that horrible sick feeling in your stomach. Be it guilt or the fear of being scolded, or possibly a mix of both. Well this was one of those times. The appropriate thing to do would be to curl up in the fetal position and wish myself out of existence. Something in Stellan's face resembled pain and I took a wild guess and said it was because of me.      "You might want to come back later, mate. We were in the middle of something." The cocky and arrogant Ben had made his return but instead of saying something back, Stellan's knuckles collided with his jaw. The crack was heard by all of us but Ben stepped back like it wasn't anything to worry about. Suddenly Ben clasped his shirt as he dragged him inside the house and proceeded to throw him up against a nearby wall. Jodie ignored my presence entirely and ran in after them.      "I've been waiting for you to swing at me. All this pent up aggression between us is becoming laughable." Ben made it seem as though he would release him by loosening his grip until he spoke his next words which made me frown. "Let's finish this here and now."      And just like that, he pounded his fist into Stellans eye, causing it to swell upon impact. It didn't take long for a retaliation and both men were striving for dominance as they threw somewhat calculated punches at one another. Specs of blood sprinkled the walls like that of a squeezed orange bursting with juices.      "This is on you."      Again, I couldn't disagree with Jodie. She spoke an unwanted truth, but I hadn't expected this. If anything I had hoped to cause less pain and confusion by leaving them. That's why I liked the time spent with Ben, he helped me forget it all.      Jodie moved to intervene but Ben growled back at her whilst struggling to keep to his feet. Based on the amount of blood loss and the sweaty staggering bodies in front of us, it was a given that they wouldn't last much longer but to what lengths were they willing to go to finish this. I - a petite, broken girl was at a severe disadvantage in terms of strength to try pull them apart so I used the only thing I could think of.      I screamed.     No.      I growled.      A guttural sound expelled from my lips, tore at my throat and burned through my chest upon release.      The fighting stopped and all eyes focused on me in my moment of sheer desperation.     Under my feet the ground trembled and the structure of the building was reduced to that of a Jenga setup.      To those who say out of body experiences aren't real, I can assure you I have experienced one first hand. I watched from the point of view of a bystander and bared witness to the changes in the air. The usual hazel colouring of my iris's turned as black as coal in my left eye and as white as snow in my right. The blonde of my hair painted a pure silver and flew mindlessly around my face as if a gust of wind had caught it.      Jodie's face turned to one of fear and she walked herself backwards into a wall whilst hiding her mouth with her hand. The men however, were now separated on the floor, one resting back on his arms and the other on his knees. Both looked to me with shock and curiosity.      "ENOUGH." A voice I had never before heard bellowed from my parted lips. I took great pride in knowing that it was a part of me that had spoke up for the first time. The voice was new, but it was all me. A me with such power that I wanted to get to know her more. But just as the power I spoke of had captained the scene in front of me, I took note of how the energy I had started with was now fading.      Light footsteps sounded behind me and the red tendrils shot in my field of view. Saphrine's gentle features were now that of a scowl as she took in what had happened in her absence. "Oh my god, Ben." She cried out as she ran to his arms. The love between them resembled that of close siblings or maybe even father and daughter. It was obvious he meant a lot to her, and he was selfish enough that he could have taken that from her if the fight had continued.
