The Unwilling Mate

Chapter 2

I walk into the cafeteria and start looking for my friends. I do not see them so I sit down at a table by myself. Then I grab my money from my bag and go in line to grab my lunch.  As i go to sit down at the table I notice that Liz and Rob are already sitting down at the table with their lunch.

Hey guys." I say a little excitedly. "Hey." they reply back in a neutral tone. " whats up you seem excited." Liz says observantly.

I blush a little thinking of Henry as I end up telling them about English class. " You know though I do think he is really handsome and I get butterflies in my stomach when I see him too. Which is crazy since i only just met him today." I could not help sating as if this was some supernatural occurrence. Which to me felt like it since i never really felt that way before.

" Aww you have a wittle cwush." Robert says in a baby voice. As i playfully glare at him and roll my eyes." How can I when- like i said- I have only just met him." I say with a little annoyance in my voice at the situation. I will admit i did like to have my independence and i did not want to hand that over at all. I know being with a guy would change that as i have dated guys even if i did not particularly like them that much.

 After my slight outburst they just rolled their eyes giving up explaining anything to me which i did not mind. They started telling me all about what happened in their classes and who they found attractive to them. As we were talking I noticed that Henry was sitting alone. I watched him for a while as he obviously sent people to sit away from him. I felt the urge to go over and sit with him when he obviously did not want company. "Guys if i move would you join me?" I interrupted them in a very serious voice.With confused looks they still agreed that they would join me.

I smile and pick up my stuff and my tray and sit down across from Henry without asking if i could join him.He looks at me slightly confused as to why i would join him when we are not even friends and my friends as they also join with confused looks." Umm.. Hello?" he says as if he is asking a question. I could not help smiling back at how cute i thought he was being "Hello. They are my friends Elizabeth Kingdom and Robert Heart." i introduce to him.

" Hey ." Liz says sweetly. " Sup." Rob says dismissively and i shoot him a look for the rude behavior. Their was a silent pause before Henry introduces himself as well "Hi I am Henry. It is nice to meet you." 

Once he said his name I noticed My friends giving me sly looks and it made me groan internally trying to figure out why i did this to myself. " You know what Ad I forgot I promised some of the other girls I would sit with them today. why don't you come Rob." Liz says this with feigned remorse and a look of sadness as if she really wanted to stay but had to keep her word.

I narrowed my eyes at her I knew what she was doing and i really wish she would stop. I looked at Rob and with a pleading look shook my head for him to say no.He looks at me then raises his brow as he slowly starts to smirk he says, " I would love to join you Liz." I scowled at him not understanding how they could betray me and leave me alone with him.

As we were sitting here it started getting a little awkward since neither of us started talking since they left. " So Henry how are you?" I ask since i am the one who joined him.  Although I really wish i never did that since after i asked he looks at me while chewing his food looking like he completely forgot i was there. I just give him a blank look as i then go to eat my food. " I am good. I decided we can meet up after school and work on the project." He says I blink rapidly to try and wrap my head around what happen. " Sure.  Just let me know what time and where."  I say slowly.

" Alright we can go right after school and its at diner you can just follow me." he says nonchalantly. I look at him and smile sheepishly " I did not drive to school today would you mind driving me or we could reschedule."i say quickly so he would not get the wrong idea.

"No it is cool i do not mind driving you and back to your house. see you later today." Henry says coolly. As he leaves  the table I sit there processing what happened. As everything slowly sinks in I just want to scream with happiness. I hear the bell ring and i go through each class only thinking about later today.As i put my stuff back in my lockers before i leave i let Liz know i will not be able to join her going home. She asks to meet me before i leave and so i meet her outside while i also wait for Henry.

I explain to her what happened at lunch and each new detail makes her grin even wider until she bursts out squealing with excitement. " I am so happy for you. " she says. I smile shyly at her and I say . " I am sorry I won't be joining you and Rob." 

"Actually Rob is going with someone else home I shall be all  by lonesome." She says and makes a pout face. I let out a little chuckle and she ends up laughing with me." Is it someone he is interested in?"I ask curiously as he never mentioned being into anybody yet.

Liz gave a shocked face and said, " He did not tell you yet?" IS hook my head at her question and felt a little hurt. She looked around and said, "I am sure he just has not had a chance to tell you yet." Then she lets me know she has to go and waves off. As I continue to wait for Henry wondering what is taking so long. I keep thinking about how Rob has not told me that he might be with someone at all and even Liz would not tell me. It made me feel like I am not a good friend to them. 

As I started to feel really insecure I stopped myself because I realized I was being ridiculous it is not like i have to know every detail of their life just like they do not know mine. I started to feel better i saw Henry walk out of the school building. He came up to me and asked if i was ready to go. I nodded my head eagerly. 

I followed him all the way to his car and i stopped. I really could not believe that he had a Black 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD Charger. It was the sexiest thing i ever saw. Henry noticed that i stopped following him and smirk when he saw my expression to his car. " You like it huh?" I scoffed and said, " I love the dang thing ." As I got into the car the only thing I thought of was how to steal this car without him noticing or knowing it was me.
