Maya's POV He made eggs like he did everything else. Without asking where things were. He just looked once and found them. The pan, the spatula, the cheese is in the second drawer of the fridge. He moved through my kitchen with the same quiet economy he moved through everything and I sat at the counter with my coffee and watched him and tried to be normal about it. I was not entirely normal about it. Aria was narrating. Telling him about her class hamster Gerald and the ongoing situation with Gerald's wheel, which squeaked, and how Ms. Patterson said they'd fix it on Friday, but Friday had come and gone twice now and the wheel still squeaked. "Someone needs to follow up," Luca said. "That's what I said." "Who's responsible for Gerald's maintenance?" Aria considered this seriously.
