Maya's POV
Sofia took Aria back inside with the cat.
I stood up from the steps and moved away from the building entrance while Luca finished the call. I could hear Gabriella's voice but not the words. I watched his face instead and his face said enough.
He hung up.
"She's in the city," I said.
"Yes."
"Isabella brought her here for what purpose exactly?"
He put his phone in his pocket. "Gabriella didn't know the specific purpose. She knows Clara arrived twelve days ago and is staying somewhere Isabella is finding." He paused. "She's seen them together twice. Once at Isabella's hotel and once at a restaurant near the courthouse."
Near the courthouse.
I let that land.
"She's a witness," I said. "Isabella is going to put her in front of the custody judge."
