Luca's POV Monday came back the way Monday did. Work at seven. Three calls before nine. A site meeting at eleven that ran long because the structural engineer had questions I'd already answered in the report but needed to hear in person before he'd sign off. I answered them. He signed off. I thought about Maya through all of it. Not the distracted version of thinking about someone. The specific background presence of her. Like a frequency that stayed on underneath everything else. I'd be in the middle of a call and think about the way she'd looked on the balcony with the city behind her.
