Chapter 22

She realised that eating while some had their eyes on her was unpleasant. But, since the one who sat before her was a beautiful ‘woman’, she forced herself to smile.

“Suit yourself, then.” She lost all reasoning when dealing with good looking people. She just want to flee but was helpless. “But, you have to finish the sandwich before I leave for work,” she spoke, urging ‘her’ to eat the breakfast as a means to keep ‘her’ watchful eyes away from staring.

Hue obliged her request and ate his breakfast silently. While at it, he stole a few glances at her. For the first time in so many years, he finally had the chance to dine with her. Although a few things made him unhappy, upon seeing her, he had cooled down. So, he treasured the moment because he had no idea when the exclusive privilege will be taken from him again.

Jennet ate her fill as fast as she could. She cleared her dirty plate and rushed to the door. Hue followed her to the porch.

“Huena, I will go to work now. Look after the house for me!” she said with a smile as she waved at him.

Hue waved back at her. However, a gloomy expression masked his face. ‘She is going to work and that homewrecker guy will be there too.’ His hand lowered as an unpleasant thought crossed his mind. He recalled the phone call from Luca and the happy expression on her face as she talked with him. It made him jealous and he cannot keep his cool at the thought that a human will take her away from him again.

No, he won’t let the past repeating itself!

Hue charged forward and pulled her away before she could enter the car. In an instant, he wrapped her small body in a tight embrace.

“Let me go!” Jennet struggled in fear. Her face ashen fearing that he would cross the line again.

Hue lowered his head and whispered, “Do not fall for another man out there.” It was a plea that came from the depth of his heart.

Jennet flinched when his breath tickled her ear. She pushed him away with the remnant of strength in her small body. “K-keep a d-distant from me!” she stammered while trying to act tough when her knees were as wobbly as a newborn calf. The unexpected hug attack weakened her unsteady heart.

She eyed him whose allure as a man seeped out from beneath his beauty. No matter how hard she filtered his image in her head, she could not hide the fact that his manly aura was there all the time.

Her effort was meaningless to the end, and it was a bad idea to dress him as a woman.

Jennet pressed her chest which tightened. Her ashen face went crimson red and her ears sizzled steadily. “I-I w-won’t fall for any man,” she stuttered and stepped back at a pace.

‘It is even dangerous to leave him as a woman around me. I’d better kick him out the soonest possible.’ Taking another step back, she immediately turned around to flee into the car.

However, Hue pulled her back again. He held her face firmly before pressing his lips on hers, ravishing the inside of her mouth while pressing her body against the car.

Jennet, flailed, and tried to whack his face. But, he was faster than her as he grabbed her flying hand with ease. Her movement was mobilized in a tight hug and an intense kiss that sealed her lips.

Jennet screamed a muffled voice while struggling dearly for life. She flailed, clawed and whatsoever but to no avail. She was impaled by fear when the sweet scent from his breath tickled her airways. It was the same sweet scent that spooked her on the night before. The smell tempted her to be indulged more in it.

Due to that, she was even desperate to get away from him. She flailed without stopping until Hue released her. As soon as he let her go, her hand swung high in the air and…

Pap!

Her hand landed hard on his fair cheek. The sound was so loud that it spooks the birds nearby, and they flocked away in a flurry.

Jennet lowered her stinging palm and took a step back from the man who faced away from her. It was not certain what kind of expression he had at the moment.

“Don’t ever do it again,” she warned him while gasping heavily. Her face reddened with anger and embarrassment.

Hue held his stinging cheek. Seconds later, he faced her. However, he was smirking instead of crying.

It seemed the slap meant nothing to him.

“That slap is so refreshing. I can’t believe you would show your love like that to me!” He beamed blindingly.

Jennet shivered where she stood. ‘This man is crazy!’

A fit of unspeakable anger overwhelmed her as the feeling urged her to tear him apart. Fuelled by the smirk she saw on his face earlier; she dashed forward and bit his hand with all her might.

Hue yowled in pain as he jumped where he stood, trying to tear her away from him. Tear gushed down his cheeks like a waterfall.

“That served you right for taking advantage of me and for making fun of my seriousness!” Jennet roared as soon as she tore herself away from him. She hurriedly rearranged her messy clothes. “Do not think that you can do whatever you please,” she warned him.

Upon hearing that warning, Hue stopped shedding more of his crocodile tears. He glared at her that was ready to enter the car. ‘Fighting back, eh? Sweet…’ he snorted inwardly.

With an unwavering smile, he raised the bitten hand and kissed it while eyeing her. “With this, you and I had shared an unbreakable bond,” he said huskily, purposely taunting her.

Jennet felt like puking as she clicked her tongue in annoyance. ‘He is crazy!’

Hue continued to taunt her, “Well, look at you. You said not to do whatever I please but, you purposely left your mark on my body-”

“I did not!” Jennet roared in denial. She started to lose her cool when he mentioned the word ‘body’.

“…you are as intense as I can remember and-” he continued while ignoring her.

“Stop talking!” she screamed madly.

Hue looked at her with a lame look. “Don’t worry my beloved wife, I won’t fall for any woman because my body and soul is solely for you. You are free to leave as many marks on my body. I will treasure it for eternity.”

Jennet gritted her teeth in annoyance. “To begin with, I am not your wife!” she said angrily, half shouting.

It was embarrassing to hear him say those words.

“How come you said you’re not my wife? We are already married to each other.” Hue chuckled.

“You…” She pointed at his face. However, she could not say the cursing words when a catchy ringtone rang from inside her handbag. She grunted once again.

Before leaving the villa, she said her mind loudly, “I will kick you out soon! Be prepared to leave!” Then, she sped the car away. She was too mad and she could not hide her intention at that moment.

Hue smiled in triumph as he brushed his nose with his thumb. “We will see about that…”

He entered the villa and closed the door behind him.

Jennet drove straight to Marvina’s apartment after answering the phone call. As they were on their way to work, Marvina asked a question that never crossed Jennet’s mind. “Did you change your perfume?” Then, she sniffed her friend that was driving.

Jennet glanced at her and replied, “I didn’t put any perfume on.” Then, she focused on the road.

Marvina smiled. “Is this the smell of your shower gel because you smell so nice.” She liked the smell so much as it had an unusually comforting scent.

Jennet frowned as she started to sniff her shirt and hand. Then, she realised the smell was actually, Hue’s body’s scent. “Aa, yea, it’s the smell of my shower gel,” she lied, hiding the truth that was far too unbelievable to share with anyone.

“Hmm, that’s nice,” Marvina said while looking through the content in her handbag. “But, where did you buy it? I might as well try this shower gel.”

“It was, um, from an old shop that was closing down a long time ago,” Jennet spewed another lie to cover the truth.

“Oh, that’s a pity. But, do you know if they have another branch somewhere?” Marvina glanced at her.

“Oh, it was the only shop in my residence back in my country. I don’t know much about their new branch because I went there once before I came here. Last I heard, they were closing down because of debt,” Jennet narrated a smooth lie.

Marvina’s nose twitched as she sniffed her again. “Oh my, your breath smelt nice too. That shop must have sold toothpaste that smelt the same as the shower gel, right?”
