Chapter Twenty-Five Reaching the temple in the first place was a challenge in itself. I was forced to move slowly, and use the shadows of the mostly abandoned buildings surrounding my target as cover. Several times, I remained motionless behind a pillar or within the dusty, echoing silence of an empty gallery while the heavy boots of a city patrol marched past. The men seemed alert, but there was no sense of urgency to their movements. They did not know I was in the area. Still, there were more patrols than usual.
