Chapter 5

Iah got up from the table and walked toward his father and whispered something in his ear. He then came back to my side, grabbed me by the arm and said: Let's get out of here for a little while. Let them do their job. I got up and grabbed his hand and followed him out the house. He told everyone: If you need us just call us. All the men just nodded and his father yelled out: Be careful and keep her safe. While waiting for the car he reached into his jacket pocket and gave me a pair of sunglasses and a fake Identification. After we got into the car, I sat there and looked at the identification. It had my picture but everything about me is different. My name was Alara Koray, my birthday made me three years older and my address was not even in my town. I asked Iah, Why do I have to be someone I'm not? Iah answered, Well until we find out what happened and why are strange men after you, we are keeping your identity a secret. If anyone says anything we have proof it's not you. I said okay and slumped into the seat of the car. I asked in a low voice: So where are we going? He smirked again at me and said: you will see when we get there. Fine I replied and crossed my arms. Iah asked me: What is wrong now? I at least took you away from all the questions and pestering didn't I? I told him thank you but I just couldn't understand why this was happening to me and my family. I was so confused, emotional, lonely and even wished I was with my parents right now.

We stopped in front of this tall building and got out of the car. We started walking into the building and I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a building with a lot of stores as far as the eye could see. I was speechless. What are we doing here? I asked Iah. He said, well, since you don't have anything we are here to get you some stuff. I quickly replied: With what money, I mean I have some money but I would have to go to the bank. He told me: don't worry about the money, it's all covered. I was feeling embarrassed and shocked at the same time. Iah asked me where i wanted to go first. I answered: I dont know Ive never been to a place like this, my mother always bought my clothes. I told him I would pay every penny back even if I had to work until my last breath. He laughed and said okay. So, I bought some clothes, undergarments and personal stuff a lady might need. I got some new shoes because mine was torn from running in the woods.

After I was done arguing with Iah because he kept getting stuff, he dragged me into a*****e where they had those phones he uses. He told me:choose one. I said: I've never had one, you choose for me. He looked at me surprised and said: No way! You've never had a phone? Now I know you are kidding right? I looked at the floor and fiddled with my hands and just swayed in place. I told him my parents never believed in electronics. I knew how to use a computer because I went to school for it, but not because i had one either. I was only allowed to use the one in the bank for work only. He lifted my chin and said: its okay, lets get you a computer and a phone and I'll show you how to use it, okay. I nodded and kept playing with my fingers. We were eating at the ice cream shop when Iah’s phone started to ring. He answered and his face quickly changed. He hung up the phone and said: Quickly we need to get home now, we have bad company coming and we don't want any trouble. I agreed and grabbed all the stuff I bought and walked out to the car. We noticed that leaving the store there was a car with dark windows following us. Iah’s phone rang again and this time he put it on so that I could hear. The man on the phone said: Keep driving normal. I got your back if anybody tries to follow you. Iah said okay and hung up. I started to panic and I couldn't eat the ice cream anymore so I threw it out the window. That is when Iah locked us in and said hold on. I couldn't see anything, I had closed my eyes until we got to the main road and I opened them. There was a red car following us, Iah called back the man that was protecting us and told him about the red car. It really looked suspicious. We started to speed up and the man turned on some lights like the sheriff did in town and stopped the red car. We reached the house very quickly and got inside fast. Iah said : don't worry about the stuff in the car, Hakan will put it in your room.

After a few moments of silence and heavy breathing, Iah’s mother came out and hugged us and asked if we were okay and how far we were being chased. Iah told her we were followed only on the main road and one of the men stopped the suspicious car and we got away. I was still shaking and Mrs. Lucia asked me to follow her into the kitchen. There she had Aylin prepare me some tea to calm me down.

We sat at the table and Iah’s father said: There is something I want you to hear dear. He turned the television on and we watched in silence and the news came up. The reporter Leanne Figgs,from my town, announced that the bodies identified in the rubble by the coroner's officers were indeed my parents. But, then she announced that my body was not found. The detective Mr. Jones spoke next and he thinks either I got kidnapped by someone or I ran away. Then the banker Mr. Loyd Soloman appeared on television. He said: If anyone knows the whereabouts of Noel please don't hurt her, she is an innocent child and my best worker. After hearing all of this, I slumped on the kitchen chair and said: I'm doomed.!!!
