CHAPTER SIXTEEN Chloe can hear a faint sound of dogs in the distance. A rush of relief and adrenalin streams through her. She bends her legs up tightly to her body and sets her forehead on her knees. "Please God, let them be coming for me. Please don’t let them get hurt." She begs and pleads in quiet prayer as the sound of the animals grows closer. The tears stream down her face, thick and salty. This is when the first arrow is finally slung in her direction. She hears it flying through the air for just a brief moment before it hits. Whishew, followed by a small thud as it sticks in the ground below her body. It misses her already wounded foot by just a couple inches, and sticks into the blood-stained ground. Chloe's heart races as she stares at the arrow in front of her. She wonders
