CHAPTER SEVEN
John slowly opens his eyes. The pain in his hands and feet are even worse than they were the day before. There’s an ache in his side and his lip is now scabbed and swollen. He has no intention of leaving home today. Misty has been found and he can’t bear to speak to anyone. He’ll remain at home with his mother.
She hasn’t had the company of either of her sons for an entire day since they were little boys. Under any other circumstances she’d enjoy the help around the house and the company. But, today will be different. Neither of them have much to talk about. Grief, pain, and illness would likely render them awkward and speechless toward each other. It’ll be a long day in the Hounds' home for John and his mother.
