I never thought this day would come– the awarding ceremony where I was presently accepting my gold medal from Maxwell High School with the phrase 2020 Chess Champion engravement.
A few months ago, I was entering my new school with no friends at all. Worse, I became a victim of bullying only because I joined in the only interest I got. Backing out was the safest choice. But my stubborn self chose the difficult option which was dealing with mistreatment.
I was far from perfect. I got my own insecurities and issues. But I didn't use them as an excuse for not achieving my goals. And now as I scanned the crowd of students down the stage, I couldn't help but smile at them. I blinked to clear my vision which was blurred out by my slight amount of tears.
