The Prince's Secret

Episode V

“Let me turn you into a vampire Sayaka.” Upon hearing this I flinched and stepped away from Henri.

“No. I don’t want to become a vampire.” I answered firmly. 

He stood up and started to walk towards me.

“Henri, you should stop. Even if this is a joke you know you shouldn’t be doing this.” Sayaka sighed.

“You know what Sayaka, sometimes I also get impatient.” Henri folded his arms with a serious look on his face.

“You cannot force anything.” I walked towards my window and opened it.

The night is already deep; all that I can hear is the sound of silence.  Here I am in my room with a pureblood vampire who can do whatever he wants at any moment because I am in his territory. But I am not afraid of Henri. I have known him for at least a decade, not that it’s too long for a vampire to form some bond with a human. The purebloods though they tend to be more egoistic than the lesser vampires, they always uphold the rules. Finding a mate was never an issue for Henri; he can always find one from the noble vampires if he wants to. I sat on the window sill and looked at Henri.

“Henri, do you know what love is?”

“Aye, and that is all I feel about you.” He said and smiled.

“What exactly do you feel towards me? Why me?”

“You know, I really can’t explain it. All I know is that I love you. That it has to be you.”

“I don’t think that what you feel towards me is love Henri.” I said as I crouched and hugged my knees.

“You know what, I like to argue with what you said earlier that I cannot force anything.” He said this and started approaching me. “But you know, I can. I really can.” He said now with his glaring crimson eyes and his fangs out. The atmosphere in the room changed, it is heavy, smells sweet and tempting.

“Henri…” I said protesting with a weak voice. I put my feet down the window sill and faced him.

Suddenly there’s a purring sound and a gray cat got out from the side of my closet.

“Oh there you are Gure… you might have been awaken you poor thing, come here.”

Henri looked at Gure in astonishment. The cat slowly walked towards me but suddenly stopped in the middle of me and Henri. Gure circled a few times and sat looking at Henri.

Henri started laughing loudly, almost maniacally. “Oh, Sayaka… you know, we can do it tonight. I assure you, you will enjoy every moment that we will have. I will hold you and wrap you in my arms. I will kiss you and caress you all over.” He said this as he continued to approach me. This time Henri looks funny. I know he doesn’t mean what he says. I can see it in his eyes. Suddenly, I felt Gure brushing on my feet. I didn’t noticed that it rushed towards me, maybe he got afraid of Henri. It continued brushing on my feet and doing circles.

“Hey don’t be afraid it’s okay.” I said as I picked up the poor maltese cat. I held it into my arms like a baby and it seems to like it and its big round piercing blue eyes are looking at me.

Henri smiled with his mouth wide opened looking amazed while looking at Gure then he looked at me then vanished.

I let out a big sighed. Finally, he’s done with the pushing.

That night, after all that happened I slept like a baby. I didn’t had any trouble sleeping unlike the other night, maybe because I had company right now. I have Gure. I chuckled on the thought. But really, it is lonely sleeping alone sometimes.

At the Admin building.

“Sneaky as always.” Henri chuckled as he passed by Cloud in the hallway.

“I can never get a rest with you playing all the time, Master.” Cloud answered with a slight grin on his face. “Well actually I don’t want to be rude but you have to live longer than I did to get a pass.”

Henri stopped walking and smiled. “At least you’re not a rat tonight.”

I have been awakened by the sunlight and thankfully I am still a human. The sunlight didn’t burned me or made me itch. I forgot to close the window last night thankfully nobody sneaked into my room, but who would? Not in his territory.

I rolled over my bed and panicked when I realized that I might have crushed Gure. I turned up the sheet and my pillows but it was no longer around. That elusive cat, it just turns up to sleep with me.

“Hey Sayaka! Finally we have class together now!” Rukiya said happily as she place her chair in front of Sayaka’s desk. “They said, you were looking for me the other day?”

“Yes. I got bored so I looked for you to hang out.”

Rukiya titled her head and reached for Sayaka’s cheeks and pinched them a little.

“Hey! What’s gotten into you?”

“Uhhh… nothing. I am just happy that you look better now.” Rukiya smiled.

“Hey Sayaka!!!” a female just entered the classroom and dashed towards Sayaka upon seeing her.

“Ashley! How are you? How was your trip back home?”

A few more of Sayaka’s friends, all females, entered the class a few minutes before the bell rang. They chatted a little to catch up on each other. Unlike Sayaka and Rukiya, most of them do not live in the dorms because they have their own villas in town and have cars to drive them to school everyday. Sayaka used to do the same before, but in her final year her family decided to put her in the dorm for unknown reasons.

Sayaka was at the hallway looking over the school grounds doing some sketches again when she felt a presence behind her back. She turned to her back and saw Cloud standing, almost smiling.

“Mr. Cloud.”

“Hi Sayaka,” he approached her and stand just beside her. “What are you up to?”

“I’m doing some sketches.” Sayaka said showing her notebook to Cloud. “It’s my final year in school and I realized I haven’t had any drawing or painting of it. I will do a proper one over the break.”

“Ohh I see.” He said looking at Sayaka, smiling.

“Why are you smiling? Stop it. It’s creepy.”

“I’m just happy that we can talk like this.” He said as he turned back and rest his elbows on the railings and looked at Sayaka. “Like old times.”

“I, I didn’t forget what you did the other day and I don’t think what I did is wrong. I just over reacted, I admit. I’m sorry that I accused you of violating the rules and even reported it to Henri. I’m just really concerned that you have violated the rules. Henri assured me that they are vampires.” Sayaka explained. “I haven’t noticed my charm’s warnings and I don’t know why. Henri said I was blinded by my feelings…which I don’t understand.”

Cloud raised his left eyebrow with a smirk on his face. He glanced on Sayaka’s face and asked, “What feelings they might be?”

Sayaka turned her head to Cloud with creased eyebrows.

“What exactly do you want to hear from me?”

“I was just asking, what feelings do you have those times?” Cloud answered as he faced Sayaka.

“I felt angry and disgusted.” Sayaka answered looking straight to Cloud’s blue eyes.

“Then why did you ran out crying?” Cloud’s eyes turned from blue to red as he asked Sayaka questions. “What exactly did you feel when you saw me doing that? Didn’t your chest felt heavy? Suffocating?”

Sayaka’s eyes grew big she can feel her heat beating fast and loudly.

Cloud stretched out his arms and hold onto Sayaka’s shoulders. His glaring red eyes looking to Sayaka’s brown eyes as if he was diving into her consciousness.

“Stop messing up with my mind.” Sayaka complained with a weak voice.

“I am not messing up with your mind.” Cloud answered as he reached for her hands and clasped to them. “I am helping you understand what you feel.”

“I, I uhhh…my chest…it felt heavy. Suffocating, yes. I feel very hurt.” Sayaka answered in a flat weak voice.

“Anything else? Didn’t you feel jealous?”

“Haa…jealous? Haa… maybe? I don’t know” she said gasping. "I just felt very hurt when I saw you doing it with someone. My chest felt it would explode that time. I think I -"

The loud voices of a group of students passing by the hallway interrupted Sayaka from finishing her words. 

"What are we talking about again Mr. Cloud?" she asked.

"You were talking about what happened yesterday after you reported me to Henri?" he said smiling, now with his eyes back to blue.

Sayaka is puzzled, she looked at Cloud who she think is acting suspicious. But she is wearing her charm, mind control shouldn't be working on her and Henri even assured her that it was not tampered with. 

She distanced herself from Cloud and he noticed it. He reached out for her right hand and said, "It is okay Sayaka, everything is going to be okay."

Sayaka is now more confused. Was he just admitting that he used mind control over her? Was he sorry for what he did the other day? She begin to feel her chest tighten as she have felt the other day. Her bitter feelings towards Cloud are still there; that means her memory and feelings wasn't altered. But something have changed, Cloud can now touch her without her flinching. His touch, too familiar... a touch that she seems to be longing for so long.
