Lelia POV
After we passed through the towering black iron gates, I expected to arrive at the pack house immediately. I braced myself for it—but what unfolded before me was nothing like I imagined.
The road twisted and curved down a long, tree-lined avenue, gradually opening into a breathtaking cityscape carved into the heart of the forest. Buildings stretched high into the air, their glass walls reflecting moonlight like silver fire. Cobblestone sidewalks lined with soft-glowing streetlamps were alive with movement—pack members, dressed in elegant eveningwear or casual comfort, walked arm in arm, laughing, sipping drinks, and enjoying the night air.
On either side of us were luxurious storefronts—bakeries, cafes with string lights twinkling like stars, boutiques with flowing gowns in their windows, even a bookstore with a golden sign that read Luna’s Words. Every detail felt like a fantasy born from one of the novels I used to sneak from the school library.
I pressed my face closer to the car window, heart racing in awe.
“This... this is all Blood Moon Pack?” I asked breathlessly, unable to hide my wonder.
Kevin didn’t even glance at me as he answered, “Yes. This is our downtown sector. Food, entertainment, shopping—everything built and run by pack members. All profit stays in the pack.”
I stared, stunned silent. My old pack barely had proper housing—we used human cities for everything. Here, there were no borders between human luxury and werewolf necessity. This was power. This was wealth. This was safety.
Kevin smirked, clearly enjoying my shock. “The previous Alpha at Dark Moon should’ve taken notes.”
I couldn’t respond—I was too overwhelmed. I’d never seen anything like this in my entire life.
We soon reached another gated entrance, this one more private and adorned with wrought-iron vines and roses etched in silver. The driveway beyond was shrouded by a line of massive pine trees and soft lantern lights. My breath caught in my throat as we emerged from the trees and entered a grand circular courtyard. In the center bloomed a flowerbed of moonflowers, roses, and what looked like shimmering silver lilies. Around it stood a mansion—no, not a mansion. A palace of glass, marble, and power.
Black and white architectural beams framed floor-to-ceiling windows. The massive entrance staircase glowed with subtle lighting beneath each step. It looked like something out of a dream, regal and terrifying all at once.
Kevin stepped out of the car, and I scrambled to follow, not wanting to be left behind. As I stepped out, the cool mountain air filled my lungs. It was crisp and sweet, charged with the scent of pine, dew, and a power that lingered in the earth itself.
Lia stirred in my mind, stretching like a cat. “I like it here. This... will do.”
I barely registered her words when a young man ran down the stairs. “Alpha! I’ll take it from here. Your guest room has been prepared.”
Kevin gave a nod, then turned to me. “Follow me.”
His voice was cold. Commanding. I didn’t dare hesitate.
We climbed the glowing staircase and entered the mansion. The foyer alone could have held a banquet. The floors were polished marble, the ceilings vaulted with gold and silver leaf accents. A massive chandelier of hanging crystal moons sparkled above us. Off to the side, an enormous floating staircase led upward, and further inside I glimpsed what looked like a ballroom.
Kevin ascended quickly, and I rushed to keep up. We went to the fourth floor, the halls silent and lined with soft gray walls and art I was too overwhelmed to process. He led me into a room—a modern office, all glass and marble with high-tech screens and a sleek black desk at its center.
“Sit,” Kevin ordered, dropping into the large leather chair behind the desk.
I obeyed, my hands twisting in my lap. The silence between us grew heavier by the second. His stare bore into me, eyes flickering between blue and black—Deo was close to the surface.
Then the air changed. Dense. Suffocating. That pressure again.
I flinched instinctively, my mind flashing back to the car. That moment. That strike.
“There will be rules,” Kevin finally said, voice sharp as a blade. “You can live here, work here, even find happiness here—but only if you follow those rules without question. Understood?”
I nodded quickly.
He slammed his hand down on the desk.
“Words, Lelia. Use them. And look at me when I speak.”
I forced myself to meet his gaze. My whole body reacted—heat flushed through me. His eyes were electric, blue like a storm, and his presence... intoxicating. I felt something flutter in my chest. Lia hummed approvingly.
“Yes, Alpha. Sorry,” I said, trying to steady my voice, but I couldn’t hide the tiny smile playing on my lips.
His jaw tightened. “This isn’t a game.”
He leaned forward, every inch of him radiating authority.
“You are my mate. I didn’t want this. But your presence makes me stronger. You will live here, not as my Luna, not as my lover, but as my personal omega. You will serve this household. Clean. Assist. Follow orders.”
Lia, unbothered, purred in my mind. “I wonder if one of those orders involves him walking around shirtless while we mop... Goddess, what’s under that shirt?”
I snorted—a laugh escaped before I could stop it.
Kevin’s power surged again as he rose from the desk and stepped toward me, furious. “You think this is funny?”
“No, sir! It was Lia!” I blurted, heart pounding. His scent was all around me—lemon, coconut, heat.
“What did she say?”
My face burned. “It was nothing. I swear.”
His gaze locked onto mine—and then, something shifted.
The world went still. Time stopped. All I could hear was the thunder of our hearts, synchronized. His breath slowed. His pupils dilated. Then, slowly, he leaned in.
I didn’t think—I just moved. Our lips met, a feather-light brush of contact that set me ablaze. Kevin growled into the kiss, one arm wrapping around my waist, the other tangling in my hair. His lips crushed down on mine, possessive and wild, and I melted against him, straddling his lap without even realizing it.
When I moved my hips, something hard pressed against me, sending a shudder through my core. I moaned into the kiss, dizzy with new sensations.
Kevin groaned, his grip on my hips tightening as he guided me against him. Then—too fast—his hands became claws. Pain shot through my sides. I cried out as I was suddenly thrown backward, my body slamming into the door with a thud that echoed through the room.
Stunned, I curled into a ball, pain and confusion flooding my chest.
Kevin stood, glaring at me as if I were filth.
“You think you can seduce your way out of your duties?” he growled. “That’s why your parents tried to marry you off, isn’t it? A spoiled little slut looking for the easy way.”
His words cut deeper than his strength ever could. I couldn’t speak. I just stood, blank-faced, numb.
“You will serve. You will follow orders. And as I said before—you may be mine, but I am not yours.”
I didn’t understand. I never asked for this. He didn’t know me. My parents treated me like garbage, and I had never—never—even kissed anyone before him. And now...
“You will live in the guest suite next to mine. You’ll clean both rooms, the shared bathroom, and manage laundry. You will earn wages. You will keep quiet. You will not speak of the bond to anyone.”
He turned and walked to the hall, stopping three doors down and opening a door.
“This is your room. Closet is left. Bathroom on the right—shared. Lock it. Good night.”
He left.
I shut and locked both doors behind me. The suite was... beautiful. More than I ever had. The bed was enormous, draped in golden linens and sheer canopy fabric. There was a fireplace, a TV, even basic toiletries laid out in the bathroom.
I stood there in my new clothes—soft shorts and a tank top—staring at the unfamiliar luxury around me.
Then, I laughed. Laughed until I couldn’t breathe.
Lia hissed. “You’ve finally cracked.”
“No. We finally have a real bed. A door that locks. A pillow, Lia. A pillow.”
She sighed. “And a mate who called us a slut and threw us across the room.”
“I’ll deal with that later. One thing at a time. Right now, we’re safe.”
Lia retreated into my mind. I climbed into the bed—clean, warm, soft—and pulled the blanket to my chin.
I’d deal with the rest tomorrow.
For tonight... I was safe.
And that was enough.
