10From his vantage point behind the heavy foliage growing along the tree line, the major watched as the old Indian stared into the empty wagon. One corner of the major’s mouth tipped up in the semblance of a smile, and an almost satisfied feeling settled in his midsection. Almost. He wouldn’t be completely happy until that dratted female was taken care of, one way or another. His gaze followed the movement of the young soldier as he hurried toward the wagon. Todd recognized him as the upstart who’d caused such a ruckus about what the dirty heathens deserved.
