Abigail's POV
As the days of early summer got longer, so did the time I spent with Elle. We had a movie night at her place where she introduced me to her favorite genre – horror. James covered for me. I didn't care if we spent a late afternoon sitting on the curb sharing a soda outside the convenience store. I wanted to be with her all the time, but I knew as the streetlights went on and the sun settled for the night, it was my time to go home.
After a rainy week, Elle promised me it was “her turn" to pick the date spot on our first sunny day in days. Momma had a day out with Marsha, as usual, and Elle picked me up.
Beep beep! Elle slid into the driveway, and I grabbed my bag and skipped out the door. “Bye, everyone!" I waved to my cats before locking them in for the afternoon.
