Lily's recorded laugh came through the ballroom speakers before the picture appeared.
The grainy image came from high in Suite 3501. Lily and Arthur were visible together on the bed.
Someone dropped a champagne glass. Others began raising phones.
“Turn it off! Turn it off now!” Lily rushed toward the console. Two of Julian's security men stepped into her path.
Arthur did not move. His lips worked without producing a word.
The next section of the recording carried their voices.
“Is the drug Martha got strong enough?” Arthur asked over the ballroom sound system. “Evelyn has a higher tolerance than most.”
Lily's recorded voice answered. “Don't worry. Mom made sure it was a special blend. She'll be completely out of it. By the time she wakes up, the whole world will think she's insane.
