It was painfully obvious that she couldn't relax, all Beth wanted was for Levi to leave her alone. Now she can't wait to be married to Kent, for the first time she hated living on her own. Okay Beth you need a good distraction, with that she began to message her friends. And even Kent, at first, it didn't seem like it was working, but in the end, she managed to move on.
Its been a few days since the incident, Beth was busy getting ready for work. She didn't expect her mother-in-law to be calling her, she smiles a little as she answers. It has definitely been a long time since they last talked, this time its for a good reason. “I’m planning an engagement party for you and Kent,” Beth smiled “really” Jackie laughed a little. “Of course, we need to make things official” it fell quiet for a moment, “its going to be held in two weeks.” Beth was a little surprised by that, they continue talking as she heads to work. She barely remembers the walk at all.
There are a few ideas she has, Jackie asks if she wants to invite anyone. Beth doesn't hesitate to say two of her friends, by the time she's done she opens up for the day. Jess and Alex can immediately tell that she's distracted by something, its quiet in the store. Alex leans on the counter while Jess leans against the cabinet, “I wonder why she's so happy.” A few moments pass then “I bet it involves the guy she likes.” Alex smirks a little “of course, it does” he looks at her “you going to ask her.” Jess smiles a little “yep” she walks over to Beth, who jumps a little “don't scare me.”
Jess waits a few seconds before “we’re wondering why you're happy this morning,” Beth looks over at Alex who adds. “Does it involve a certain someone” before she can deny it, Beth blushes furiously. As she tries to think of a response Alex joins them, “tell us everything” she snorts. “I’m having an engagement party in two weeks,” they both became excited “oh my god.” It doesn't need to be asked but, “we are invited right.” Beth tries not to smile but that doesn't last, she holds it together as best she can. She wants to see how long she can hold it in, then “of course, you are.”
The day before the party Jackie invited them to stay the night, she then invited Beth to come shopping with her. It wasn't hard to tell that Beth was surprised, she was also excited. She hasn't spent any time alone with her before, they head to one of the biggest centres Beth has ever seen. She feels a little out of place, they start with a high-end dress store. Jackie can tell its a first for Beth, they wander through the dresses. Which is when Beth spots a satin dress, its floor length and its purple. Its pretty clear how perfect it is. As she holds it up Jackie smiles a little.
“I bet Kent would love seeing you in that dress,” Beth blushes “why don't you try it on.” So, that's what she does, as she stands in the fitting room she does a twirl. Without trying she lets out a happy giggle, once she's done she can't stop smiling. “Now you need the perfect shoes to go with it,” they make their way over to the footwear. There are so many options Beth doesn't know where to start, after pursuing the shelves she spots a pair of silver heels. Of course, she tries them out. By the end of the day she had the perfect outfit, Beth could barely contain her energy.
The next morning she was having a simple breakfast with Kent, it was a little quiet at they ate. Beth wasn't surprised by the fact that he was teasing her, it was a pretty normal thing for them. “Cute pyjamas by the way” she felt a little embarrassed, after a moment or two she responded with. “Just know you'll be shocked by the dress I’ll be wearing later,” he leaned in close “is that a challenge. Are you sure I will be shocked” to add to it, she quickly kissed him. “Yep” he was caught off guard by that, “did that just happen.” She continued eating “I don't know what you're talking about.”
Of course, he wasn't about to be upstaged, so he decided it was his turn. It wasn't exactly how they had pictured it, but it was still pretty wonderful. It wasn't long before their parents walked in, Jackie smiled a little “there will be plenty of time for that.” Beth quickly finished up and went to shower, it fell quiet Kent felt happy as he finished eating. He ignores the looks from them, he heads to his room. At first, he simply lays on his bed and smiles like a fool, his phone goes off beside him. There's a message from Beth, “I guarantee you don't know I dreamt about kissing you.”
A few minutes pass before he responds, “really? What was it like” Kent sits up and simply waits. “I’m pretty sure it involved me giggling happily, and the dream felt so real” before he could send a reply. There was a knock at his door, he wasn't expecting to see Beth wearing a bathrobe. She was still getting ready “I think we need a do-over,” he smiled a little “do we?” She was doing her best to remain confident. Without another word she closed the distance and kissed him, Kent wrapped his arms around her. So much better than before, after a few minutes she giggled a little.
She did try to pretend she didn't do it, “that was cute” she blushed a little. “It never happened” they kissed a little more before she left the room, Kent felt pretty good he also now had a problem. With a deep breath he moved to his bathroom, it was a slightly longer shower. There is only a little over two hours until the party, it wouldn't take long to decorate the ballroom. Since they started the night before, Beth felt like a princess in her dress. Once she had it on Jackie had her stylist help do her hair, they settled on a beautiful style. After that Beth had her makeup done.
By then Jackie had changed, she was ready to present her daughter-in-law. They could hear all the guests arriving, Jess and Alex were the first to arrive. They were both mesmerized by everything, of course, they had no idea what Beth was wearing. She wanted to surprise everyone.
