My mind was restless with worry to have left the children at the mercy of those thugs and my tyrannically cruel father, but with hindsight I acknowledged that Alex was right. There was no way we could have outdone those men in a fight. We would have ended up tied or even ruthlessly handled by my father. “I got the proofs,” Alex informed me scrolling through his phone, as we climbed into my car and sped down the road like the very devil was after us. I felt overwhelmed by the whole situation all of a sudden. So completely baffled that I blanked for a whole minute, my eyesight blurred as I saw sparks. “Anna? Anna? Are you alright?” I was unable to utter a single word despite my willingness, my head started to swim, and I blinked several times to get my bearings, but that sweet oblivion
