I can’t believe what I walked back to when I got back from making sure Zane was safe at the house. I walked into the basement just as the fucker did that. He allowed her Mom to suffer and die. I watched how she lay punch after punch on Alpha and whoever was in the other chair.
What the f**k am I supposed to do now? I thought when I put that bullet in Zane and was going to tell him the news, he would be done. That would be it. Then the motherfucker goes and brings her Mom into it? f**k!
Now, which one of his boys will pay for this bloody scene we have here today? A f*****g punching bag isn't going to get rid of this frustration. This needs to be paid back in blood.
I walked over to where she had collapsed on the floor. Dad was standing with his arms folded, looking like a smug prick. I looked over at the other chair,
“Reece” she nods and sniffles, she looked terrible. “Then who is this?”
“Taylor” she mouthed. I nodded my head.
Scooping Taylor up, my heart breaks for her. Holding her tight, I carried her down the hall and to her room. The woman who Zane said was a fighter is now falling apart in my arms. My wolf is pacing in my mind. I understand why, but how is this a possibility? This wasn't how I expected it to go. I could never believe this is how I would meet the one...my fated mate.
Getting into bed with her, I held her close, silently promising to make that bastard pay for everything he had put her through. Looking at Taylor, I can’t help but feel a pang in my heart. She is a girl who would make any man weak at the knees. Her scent was intoxicating, my wolf Axel was screaming in my head to mark her, to protect and destroy all who had wronged our mate. I have to say I did agree with destroying everyone who wronged her part, but marking without concent, I just couldn't do that, I wasn't my dad who took what he deemed as belonging to him.
“Why did he do it? Why her?” she whispers.
“Shh, Princess. I don’t know. I didn't even know she was there. I’m so sorry. I would have done anything and everything in my power to help her. You know that, right? I’m sorry I wasn’t back in time.”
Nodding, she pushes her face into my chest, sobbing. “It hurts.”
“I know, baby. I know.”
After a while, her breathing evens out and I know she has dozed off. I gently ease her off and head out to deal with the bastard. As I left her room, I ran into Bradley.
“Rafe!”
Drunk again. “Bradley, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
“f**k, you dickhead. The boss wants you in his office.”
“I guess you will be following me to see the almighty one?” I can't help the small chuckle that leaves my lips. Oh dear, Bradley’s frowning at me. That’s just hilarious. He’s always so how should we say it? Away with the fairies, I’m surprised he knows his own name, let alone the messages he delivers.
“Well, there’s no need to be like that, you're a dumb f**k. I was just relaying a message, and you know I have to make sure you go straight there. So, deal with it and keep your trap shut.”
“Yes, sir.” I saluted as I walked past. f*****g prick. “Oh one more thing… How’s your d**k?” One hand goes straight to his crotch, whilst he flips the bird with the other. I chuckle.
As we walked through the pack-house, I took note of how many warriors were hanging around. Not as many as usual. We continued to head to Alpha’s office. He’s usually in there with brandy in one hand, a fat Cuban in the other, and a desparet, she=wolf rubbing herself all over him. I think I might just kill Alpha myself, marking him up pretty good first. That could be fun.
I need to stop chuckling at all these scenarios going through my mind. Let’s just concentrate on the job at hand…getting into the Alpha’s mind. A small smile forms on my face as we get to the office.
“Ahh, Rafe, my boy.” Seriously? He thinks we’re best buds?
“You asked to see me?” Even tone. I’m a good master of disguise. Although Axel is foaming at the mouth trying to break through to tear his throat out for touching our mate.
“Yes. You see, after today’s…activities, I’m pretty sure the girls are going to harm themselves. Especially Taylor. I need someone I can trust to stop her from doing anything stupid.”
“You want me to babysit the girl you kidnapped, whose Mom’s head you just chopped off, because you think she may harm herself… Have I got that right?” Anger. That’s what I’m seeing in his beady eyes right now. Don’t smile. Don’t smile. Don’t smile.
“Yes, Rafe. That’s about the size of it. Can I count on you, or am I going to have to put Bradley in there? I’m pretty sure he wouldn't be able to keep his hands off her.”
“I suppose I can do this task. How do you want me to go about taking care of her well-being?” This is just perfect. He’s handing her over to me. This will make my job so much easier.
“I want you to stay with Taylor for a few days. Get her to calm the f**k down. I also want you to keep your mother-f*****g hands off her because if you touch her, I will destroy you. Do I make myself clear?”
“Crystal.”. Once again, suppressing the need to tear him apart.
“Good. You had best start right now then.”
With a nod, I left his office.
Heading back through the pack house, I grab some water and some Reese’s peanut butter cups. Quietly, I entered her room, locking the door behind me. Placing the items on the floor, I walked over to the bed, looking down at her. God, even in this state, she’s beautiful.
Just as I stretch out beside her, she rolls towards me, wrapping herself around my body. I can't stop the smile that plays on my lips. I can’t help myself as a finger reaches out and gently removes the hair from her face. It’s heartbreaking to see her go through all this pain because of one sick son of a b***h.
I feel like a ball of nerves. I have no idea how she’s going to react to me being here when she finally wakes up. I mean, she was okay when I took her away from that nightmare scene, but it’s entirely different now. One look at me and she would kick my ass. We haven’t had the chance to meet yet.
