Late in the night, a shadow crept open the door. The house was dark with only a trickle of moonlight flowing through the window. The place was familiar, peaceful. The furniture, casting dark, irregular shadows, were beginning to show signs of use, and the walls were covered in paintings and portraits. A hobby of the resident. One of the residents.
A tired smile formed on Royle’s lips. Home. He was finally home. He quietly shut the door behind him and made his way past the couches and through the hall. One of the rooms had the door slightly ajar, but Royle knew no one would be inside at this time of night. It was too late for Misa to be painting and the lack of light told him she had gone to bed.
