A patch of pink and blue was dawn now coming in.And the sun played hide and seek with the clouds. There was nothing to do other than hold the stiring wheel and focus on the lonely road because somehow crazy drivers pops out from any corner. Driving for hours excited to make it home, this was life after collage it was the reward of hard work and pressure. Finally the signs indicated a left into Chase Village,my hometown. I was expecting a welcome back greeting from every soul that roamed, waving and carrying on their tasks but it was quiet and there was no one outside. Everything looked strange, it's like I just had a new vision of my hometown.
I was there parked outside my childhood memories holder, my way when I needed a comforter. I remained seated in my vehicle just daydreaming and looking at the porch which was newly decorated and rearranged from the way I remembered it when I left off to collage. The lawn perfectly trimed and on the porch laid a dinning set and plants going around it's boarder. When I had recollect myself from daydreaming. I looked into the rear view mirror and gazed into grey dust eyes and slowly inhaled and exhaled. Inside a light came on as I hopped out of my car. The air was chilly and the sun was finally at its limit on the sky.
The front door swang open and out came Ma' my very wise grandmother dressed in a grey tracksuit, her blonde hair laid perfectly straight down on her shoulder, who was always out early for a jug. She did not notice me standing behind her but when she did,her facial reactions were hard to tell she had this reaction as though she is standing before my ghost. Then a warm smile stole the expression away and she grabbed me in for a hug. "Its good to see you home dear", her voice said which sounded new to my ears. I smiled gracefully. "Your mom is still asleep, wanna jug with me meanwhile and you'll tell me all about collage", she said running on spot." Sure ma, I got a lot to tell you cool suit by the way" , I exclaimed. "Yes it's always good to be nice and fit",she said jugging off as I repeated behind her.
The wind whispered a song as it played in my hair and the trees were a lovely choir. Now a few villagers were out in their front yard watering plants or enjoying a cup of coffee on their porch. Some was briskly making their way to the market side. Mrs.Jenn one of Ma's best friends were triming her furns. She waved and we returned it and dashed a smile when she saw me," welcome back Marina" , she said as we passed by. Aahh this was what being back home feels like and a jug early morning helped to. Everyone waved as we passed by some dogs even barked. I stopped for a second to pat Mrs.Burk's poodle,Max I used to walk on afternoons. He jumped up and down excitedly, "he surly missed you", Mrs. Burk's laughed. I kindly returned it," yes he did, and I missed him to".
