Back at his home, the Hunter rushed towards the Ministry of Enlightenment to talk to the city's regent. He took a number and waited... Waited a lot, knowing it would take a while longer. Unfortunately, bureaucracy is not something exclusive to the world of the living. Patience and haste run freely in our core, even though we know we have all eternity. What can you do? Mere human vices acquired during mortal life. When the answers came, the Hunter went to meet Eduardo again. He teleported directly to the hotel room where Eddie had rented to spend a few days in São Paulo until they could clarify the whole situation, just before the young prodigy fell asleep. He also knew that he was anxious for answers:
– Débora, my fellow healer, will accompany us on the mission. We already have another name to be our guide! Everything is settled.
Eduardo jumped out of bed terrified. Rightfully so. Perhaps spirits forget the silly fear that the incarnate beings have of discarnate entities.
– Holy s**t! Don't do that again! I'm almost sleeping here, and you just appear out of nowhere! What a scare, man! – Eddie reacted.
– Well! We need to check your vocabulary. It doesn't match what a medium should say...
A few more days passed, and everything was almost ready. Eduardo could already see other "wandering souls" more frequently and even separate his astral body from his spirit through astral projection, even if momentarily. One beautiful day, after a session of astral projection training, Eddie asked:
– In your spiritual body, don't you miss anything?
The Hunter meditated for a moment and replied:
– Well... I wouldn't say miss. I have, let's say... Longings! Longing for pleasant things, good moments! Similar to that feeling we have when we remember childhood! You feel the desire to play with toy cars, play tag with friends, eat sweets and treats, but you don't play anymore because you know that it was something good that stayed in the past! Something that doesn't come back... Unless through reincarnation.
– Not even s*x? – Eddie asked indignantly, remembering that it had been almost a month since he was away from home, talking only by phone and social media with his wife.
– The needs of the spiritual body are different from the needs of the physiological body, my dear. We don't need to eat, drink, breathe, or have s*x anymore... But this depends a lot on the level of evolution and how dense and materialistic your spirit still is! I've seen spirits on this side who sleep, eat, drink, and surprisingly, even go to the bathroom! There is s*x on this side too, however, it's something purer, more connected to true feelings! Those who still have a great s****l obsession vampirize incarnate beings to obtain the exact sensation of s*x from Earth. But don't worry about this now; I believe that even Chico Xavier said once in a television interview that s*x is not a sin. God wouldn't give us such a great blessing for reproduction if it wasn't meant to be used. Sin lies in excess, like everything in life, if done in excess, it will generate a future problem. In the case of s*x, promiscuity, that is, performing the s****l act simply to satisfy carnal desires excessively, even passing through the feelings of others, which can hurt others. Always remember: Love your neighbor, don't do and don't wish for your neighbor what you don't want for yourself. Hmm, taking advantage of the moment, since I mentioned vampirism, I'd better tell you a bit about how to fight against these creatures...
Eduardo widened his eyes and said:
– Vampires?
– Yes! We've come to an important point! Vampires! But they're different from the vampires you know from mythology. They are psychic vampires that feed on fluidic emotions. These creatures I will teach you to fight against as well. These beings are entirely connected to obsessions, be they of any kind, such as food, drugs, sex... Let's go for a practical lesson...
The Hunter asked Eduardo to detach his astral body, the perispirit, from his material body, and then, in a touch of hands, they were transported to a rave, a party for young people, filled with drinks and other types of drugs. The music was extremely loud, and it could be said that it was difficult to distinguish the living from the dead there. The Hunter pointed to a drunken young man and showed how many discarnate spirits hovered around him, vampirizing his energies.
– Well, let's take advantage of this scene for training too. You need to learn to possess bodies now.
– Wow! Is there possession too? And here I was indignant a few months ago about the reincarnation thing. I thought all this was just a movie thing.
– There are levels of possession. When a spirit begins to suggest in such a way to an incarnate being, for example, that it no longer follows its own will but that of the obsessing spirit, it becomes a kind of control where the incarnate and discarnate become confused. This young man we're observing now. Wait a bit! – Meanwhile, the Hunter disappeared in an instant and quickly "settled" in that individual.
Obviously, incarnate beings, when under the influence of intoxicants, are easily suggestible. He entered a somnambulistic state, and the Hunter took his place. Using that body, the spirit fixed his gaze on Eduardo's ethereal form and said:
– Ready! I'm here! Using him as a tool!
Although the party
was crowded, no one cared about a drunkard talking to the winds. Moreover, almost everyone around there showed signs of being in the same state. Youth problems of this century.
– Wow. I can see you through him, but he does everything you do. It's like you're piloting the guy! – the apprentice replied.
– Yes. This is one reason why we should also avoid alcohol and other drugs. When this guy wakes up, he won't even know what happened. Now it's your turn!
The Hunter uncoupled from that guy and asked his apprentice to try it. Without explaining much, Eduardo quickly caught on. However, at that moment, the lesson was interrupted when, in the body of that drunk boy, he accidentally hit a brute passing by in an uncontrolled hand movement.
– Hey! Watch out, kid! – the being cursed, pushing the young man in his "borrowed body."
Eddie accepted the challenge and pushed the big guy back. Some punches and kicks later, finished with a beautiful knee to the big guy's chin, made Eduardo boast. But the fight was interrupted by a grave and frightening voice, one of those typical voices to scare little children, that shouted:
– GET OUT OF HERE. I CAME TO TAKE THIS YOUNG MAN. THIS YOUNG MAN MUST COME WITH ME DOWN THERE!
A creature about two meters tall appeared. Its body was full of muscles, African-style black skin. It wore capoeira pants and nothing covering the chest, except for cords and chains with symbols of Umbanda. What caught the most attention was the face. Instead of a face, there was a skull with flaming red eyes.
– Who is he? – Eduardo asked, frightened, pointing to that mysterious figure who, in the process, ended up getting out of control of the drunk boy.
– Exú! They're good at fighting. You made a mistake by attracting so much attention. Now let me handle it. – the Hunter replied as he went towards the threat.
There was no more time for conversations. When he realized they wouldn't leave, Exú did three somersaults in the air and hit both feet on his opponent's chest, throwing him away. After the fall and with a cat-like jump, the Hunter said:
– Eduardo. Run, the beast is going to attack here!
– No way! I want to see this!
Eddie had never seen a spirit fighting capoeira. He wanted to join the fight to help, but he noticed the thread of happiness in his mentor's face when fighting such a famous and feared figure. The supernatural being blocked and dodged punches and kicks perfectly, but the Hunter was not left behind.
The fight lasted for a good while until the creature lost patience:
– ENOUGH ALREADY! I DIDN'T COME HERE TO PLAY WITH YOU, KID! I'M GOING TO TAKE THAT SOUL, AND IT WILL BE NOW!
However, when the entity realized, the young man he came to harvest had disappeared. Eddie smiled:
– It's over, brother! Your passenger left earlier while you guys were fighting.
– YOU KIDS! I'LL BE BACK TO TAKE YOU! – were Exú's last words as he disappeared into an illusory fire created by him to impress.
Eduardo was learning well. While the Hunter practically took a beating from that powerful entity, he suggested to an extremely beautiful young woman at the party that she attract the target of disincarnation to a more "intimate" place. The plan worked perfectly. The man who was going "to a better place" changed his tune immediately, becoming practically invisible to Exú, who at the moment had other concerns. From the creature's threats, one thing was certain: it wasn't the last time they would see Exú!
